Role Description: Software Engineer - Database Team

Role Purpose: 
 
Wasabi is seeking a Software Engineer with a specialized focus on database operations and query optimization. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in SQL and distributed systems to design, develop, and improve robust data storage solutions that will scale to trillions of records. Your responsibilities will include the development and fine-tuning of our database systems, ensuring their scalability, security, cost-effectiveness, and high performance. Collaborating with various teams, you will be a key player in maintaining and improving our database infrastructure to meet evolving needs and challenges.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and performance of our databases through design, analysis, coding, testing, and responding to operational and customer support incidents.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute strategies for optimizing database performance and resolving challenges. 
Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in software engineering. Candidates with exceptional skills and lesser experience may be considered. 
  • Proficiency with Golang (preferred), C/C++, Java, or other high-level language. 
  • Experience with database schema design, DevOps practices, and database infrastructure automation. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and query optimization, with experience tuning performance for large-scale, high-throughput systems. 
  • Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills and collaborative team working ability. Willingness to learn from and contribute to team knowledge. 
  • Adaptability: Flexible in adapting to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with a focus on delivering results and efficient execution.
