ElectronX™ is a new electricity market designed to enable precision risk management, volatility hedging opportunities, and the monetization of power assets for all energy market participants. As a CFTC-regulated financial exchange (subject to approval), ElectronX will offer derivatives products that capture the intraday price fluctuations of our rapidly changing electrical grid—helping to smooth the financial path of clean energy adoption across the nation.

What will you be doing?We are seeking an experienced Markets Software Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in architecting and developing ElectronX. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and design large-scale, robust systems that form the backbone of our exchange platform. Key responsibilities include:
Design and implement robust electronic trading systems with a focus on reliability, performance and automation
Develop and maintain core platform and systems, the main exchange, clearinghouse, APIs, connectivity solutions and tooling
Build systems for recording, cataloging, analyzing, transforming and publishing market and trading data
Develop and maintain testing and monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and accuracy
Design with a focus on reliability and performance, and an eagerness to automate everything
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components
Conduct code reviews and mentor junior team members
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred
3+ years of experience programming in securities markets, electronic and algorithmic trading
Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Go, Python, Java, or Rust
Experience with FIX and other market connectivity and order entry protocols
Familiarity with algorithmic trading principles and execution strategies
In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, database technologies and analysis techniques
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and apply problem-solving and analytical skills in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Hybrid work schedule with 3+ days/week in office in Chicago (preferred) or NYC
You have experience with financial services or trading systems infrastructure
You're passionate about clean energy and its intersection with financial markets
