DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Design, develop and implement software solutions. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code- related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Specialist Data Engineering, Associate Architect Technology, Software Development Advisor, ASE, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: Using version control systems including Git and build tools including Maven for project management; Developing and maintaining data pipelines using technologies including Spark, data integration tools including Apache NiFi, and messaging systems including Kafka and JMS; Collaborating with software development teams to integrate data solutions with microservices architecture using Spring Boot; Utilizing Python and Scala with Spark for data processing and analysis; Using big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, and Cassandra; Using programming languages including Java, Python and Scala; using relational databases including Oracle and DB2, and data warehousing solutions including Impala; Performing distributed IT design and development using Java Enterprise and J2EE; Troubleshooting and fixing production defects after production moves using tools including Splunk and Dynatrace; Using JIRA and Confluence to provide technical solutions and to assist the development team with project deliverables; Writing Unit and Integration tests for betterment of quality and to meet the code coverage criteria; Using Bitbucket to implement code while adhering to project and organization coding standards.
