Position Overview
They are seeking a Software Engineer (contract to hire) to join its engineering team supporting next-generation traffic management and mobility platforms.

This role will contribute across the software development lifecycle, including designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software solutions used by transportation agencies and roadway operators. Engineers work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable applications while supporting ongoing platform improvements and customer-facing initiatives.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, writing maintainable code, collaborating with teammates, and contributing to products that have real-world impact.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications
  • Build and enhance backend services using Java and Spring technologies
  • Contribute to modern frontend development using React and TypeScript
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support software releases
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams
  • Help improve platform performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Contribute to Agile development processes and best practices

Qualifications
  • 3-7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong object-oriented programming fundamentals
  • Experience building and consuming APIs
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Ability to independently solve problems and deliver features
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Additional Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Contract-to-hire opportunity
  • Candidates with a history of long-term impact and stable career progression are strongly preferred
  • This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity. During the contract portion, candidates will be engaged as 1099 (independent) contractors.



Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 per year.
