Job Title: Software QA Lead
Location: Green Bay or Remote
Department: Product Development
Reports To: VP of Product & Engineering
Employment Type: Full Time, Exempt
SUMMARY
The Software QA Lead owns product quality at The Lake Companies — from release readiness through post-release monitoring and escaped defect trends. The role blends hands-on testing work with quality strategy: enforcing standards, owning the testing library, directing QA testers, and holding the gate on what ships. The right candidate brings enough experience to get oriented quickly and start making a real impact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Ownership- Hold the go/no-go gate for every release, enforcing non-negotiables around Data Integrity, Security, and Core Workflows.
- Own escaped defect metrics and drive year-over-year reductions in customer-reported defects.
- Maintain the Quality Dashboard and chair the monthly Quality Council with Leadership, Product, and Support.
- Own and enforce the Definition of Done across all product lines in partnership with the Scrum Master.
- Participate in design and requirements reviews (Shift-Left) to catch quality issues before development begins.
- Own the QA testing library: define what gets tested, at what depth, and to what standard.
- Direct and coordinate QA testers, ensuring regression and manual testing tasks are completed on schedule and to standard.
- Review and approve test contributions to maintain framework quality and consistency.
- Develop tester independence and capability so the team can execute the majority of regression work autonomously.
- Coordinate the end-to-end release process: schedules, checklists, stakeholder communication, and UAT.
- Triage and prioritize defects with the Product Manager for service packs and hotfixes.
- Own 48-hour post-release hypercare monitoring using telemetry dashboards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Familiarity with Infor SyteLine ERP and the manufacturing environments it serves. Experience with Lake Companies products (Doc-Trak, Shop-Trak, Fact-Trak) strongly preferred.
- Experience owning or significantly contributing to a QA testing library or automated test framework.
- Hands-on experience with TestComplete or Playwright is a plus — this role will get into the details when needed.
- Strong analytical skills; able to translate defect and support ticket data into prioritized quality improvements.
- Clear communicator comfortable running cross-functional meetings and presenting quality data to the broader team.
KEY SUCCESS METRICS
- Year-over-year reduction in customer-reported critical and non-critical escaped defects.
- Year-over-year reduction in support tickets categorized as Software Defect.
- QA team independently executing the majority of defined regression tasks.
- Consistent Definition of Done enforcement across all releases.
