Working at Veracyte enables our employees to not only make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, but to also learn and grow within a purpose driven environment. This is what we call the Veracyte way – it’s about how we work together, guided by our values, to give clinicians the insights they need to help patients make life-changing decisions.

Our Values:

  • We Seek A Better Way: We innovate boldly, learn from our setbacks, and are resilient in our pursuit to transform cancer care
  • We Make It Happen: We act with urgency, commit to quality, and bring fun to our hard work
  • We Are Stronger Together: We collaborate openly, seek to understand, and celebrate our wins
  • We Care Deeply: We embrace our differences, do the right thing, and encourage each other

The Position:

The Solutions Architect will contribute to Veracyte’s success by designing, developing, and implementing integration solutions for our EHR interconnect service, enabling seamless data exchange between Veracyte’s diagnostics products and external electronic health record systems. This role focuses on creating scalable and reliable architectural designs to support interoperability, data flows, and system performance in a healthcare environment. The Solutions Architect will collaborate with senior architects, product managers, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality integration solutions, playing a key role in Veracyte’s digital transformation in diagnostics.

The position is a hybrid role based out of our San Diego or South San Francisco office. We are also open to US Remote (working PST hours).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop integration architectures for the EHR interconnect service, including APIs, data pipelines, and workflows for order receipt and result delivery.
  2. Work with cross-functional teams to gather technical requirements and create architectural blueprints that align with business objectives.
  3. Implement and support healthcare interoperability standards, with a focus on FHIR for diagnostics-specific use cases.
    • Design and build FHIR-based APIs and data mappings to enable real-time data exchange with external EHR systems.
    • Ensure proper handling of diagnostics data, such as patient orders and result reporting, for accuracy and reliability.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, optimizing for performance and error handling.
  4. Ensure solutions comply with data security, privacy, and healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA.
  5. Collaborate with senior architects to enhance integration scalability, reliability, and monitoring in cloud-based environments.
  6. Contribute to architectural documentation, testing strategies, and user guides for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Participate in design reviews, adopt best practices, and stay updated on emerging integration technologies and healthcare standards.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solutions architecture, integration engineering, or software development, preferably in healthcare or SaaS environments.
  • Experience with API design and integration, with familiarity or exposure to FHIR or other healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Preference for candidates with healthcare experience, especially in diagnostics or EHR integration; familiarity with FHIR-based order and result workflows is a plus.
  • Knowledge of EHR platforms; experience with Epic Aura is valuable but not required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in designing reliable architectures.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
