FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Chicago has a rare opportunity for one of the best jobs in the country! We are looking for a sports reporter/anchor and a true sports journalist to join the FOX Chicago Sports Department in the best sports markets in the country.

The ideal candidate is someone who is highly experienced in both reporting and hosting live sports coverage, has a deep knowledge of our local sports teams, an innate ability to forge connections with teams/athletes, have dynamic skills at live broadcasting, and proven work as a storyteller who knows how to make a story memorable and impactful. This position requires a self-starter who can generate story ideas on a daily basis that go beyond the highlights. In this role you will contribute daily on a variety of platforms to enhance our overall sports coverage as well as host live post coverage both in studio and in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dynamic live television and storytelling skills are a must
  • Cover professional athletes on a daily basis
  • Travel to assigned NFL games on a weekly basis
  • Produce, shoot, edit and curate social media posts that are information rich
  • Ability to write and voice enterprises packages, sportscasts and highlights in a clear, concise, conversational manner
  • Host and plan for assigned sports shows as assigned
  • Present several minutes of sports coverage on assigned newscasts and sports programs
  • Develop and maintain strong sports sources and relationships to ensure exclusive coverage opportunities
  • Be able to ad-lib for hours during breaking sports or live at sporting events if needed
  • Contribute to sports coverage online along with the digital staff and other appropriate staff members during daily and breaking sports news

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years in medium to large markets as a television sports/anchor
  • Demonstrated storytelling experience
  • Proven contribution and engagement on social media/digital
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Work well in a team environment with ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will mesh well with co-workers, supervisors and viewers
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, mornings and holidays will be required
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $55.00-60.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
