What you'll be doing

This role serves as the business product owner and primary business lead for the Client Lifecycle Management platform and the broader client onboarding transformation, accountable for defining, prioritizing, and delivering platform capabilities that improve onboarding outcomes, enhance client experience, strengthen control and governance, and drive operational efficiency. Drawing on deep expertise in client experience, business effectiveness, and transformation delivery, the role provides specialized advice and consultation to senior business partners; leads complex initiatives across business, operations, risk, compliance, technology, and vendor stakeholders; and develops recommendations, roadmaps, and execution plans that align front-line needs, operational requirements, platform design, and measurable business outcomes. The role is accountable for solving complex issues with limited precedent, translates strategy into actionable delivery priorities, and champions innovative, practical solutions consistent with CIBC’s values, quality standards, and target operating model objectives.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How You'll Succeed

Transformation Delivery & Platform Implementation

  • Serve as the primary business lead and product owner for the CLM platform implementation, accountable for translating onboarding transformation objectives, operating model priorities, and client experience goals into clear platform requirements, delivery priorities, and measurable outcomes.

  • Lead business requirements definition, journey mapping, process design, and user story development across the end-to-end onboarding journey, ensuring requirements reflect front-line, onboarding, KYC/AML, operations, product, technology, risk, compliance, and client needs.

  • Act as the primary business point of accountability for interactions with the CLM vendor, system integrator, technology partners, and governance forums, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed scope, timelines, quality expectations, and business outcomes.

  • Drive cross-functional stakeholder alignment across Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, onboarding and client service, risk/AML, compliance, legal, operations, product, technology, data, and enterprise governance teams to support timely decisions and coordinated execution.

  • Challenge vendor and system integrator design decisions to minimize unnecessary customization, stay close to standard platform capabilities where appropriate, preserve long-term sustainability, and ensure the solution remains scalable, resilient, and extensible.

  • Orchestrate business input into platform integrations across CLM, Salesforce, front-end experience, document management, e-signature, KYC/KYB/screening tools, and core banking platforms to support a seamless end-to-end onboarding experience.

  • Ensure the platform design supports target-state operating model principles, including stronger intake quality, fewer handoffs, clearer role ownership, improved visibility, standardized workflows, and the ability to support both digital self-service and banker-assisted journeys.

  • Partner with front, middle, and back office teams including relationship management, onboarding, KYC/AML, and operations leaders to validate future-state workflows, define role impacts, identify operational dependencies, and ensure the solution is viable in day-to-day execution.

  • Embed risk, control, auditability, data integrity, and regulatory requirements into platform design and workflow orchestration, including KYC/AML, KYB, screening, approvals, documentation, exception handling, audit trails, and control monitoring.

  • Lead business decision-making on MVP scope, phased rollout sequencing, release trade-offs, adoption readiness, pilot planning, user acceptance testing, business readiness, hypercare, and post-implementation stabilization.

  • Define and track measurable outcomes, including onboarding cycle time reduction, SLA adherence, straight-through processing, exception rates, document quality, data completeness, colleague productivity, client visibility, and overall client experience.

Product Ownership & Continuous Improvement

  • Own the CLM platform as a business product across implementation and steady state, including product vision, roadmap, backlog prioritization, release planning, enhancement intake, and value realization across onboarding and client lifecycle management.

  • Establish sustainable product governance for ongoing platform management, including enhancement intake, prioritization forums, release governance, issue escalation, performance monitoring, vendor management, and continuous improvement routines.

  • Lead change adoption in partnership with business, operations, and technology teams, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training readiness, user adoption planning, operating model transition, and reinforcement of new ways of working.

  • Capture feedback from users, clients, and business stakeholders and incorporate learnings into future releases, product enhancements, process improvements, and adoption plans.

  • Build internal platform knowledge and product management discipline over time by partnering with technology, operations, and vendor teams on documentation, runbooks, training, enablement, and long-term ownership of configuration and capability decisions.

  • Maintain a client- and colleague-centered perspective, ensuring the platform reduces manual work, improves transparency, accelerates onboarding, strengthens compliance, and supports a modern, scalable commercial onboarding model.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate 8–12+ years of experience in banking, treasury management, client experience, onboarding, business effectiveness, or product ownership roles, including direct experience with client lifecycle management and commercial client onboarding. You understand channels, process, products, technology, operations, back office functions, business controls, documentation, account opening, KYC/AML, KYB, screening, and regulatory requirements. Experience with CLM platforms such as Fenergo, Actimize, nCino, or CLM Pro is strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

  • Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You build productive partnerships across business, operations, risk, compliance, technology, product, vendor, and leadership teams, and you can influence both business and technical stakeholders by making yourself heard, aligning priorities, and driving decisions across groups.

  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others do not. Your critical thinking, analytical mindset, and data-driven approach help inform decision making, define and track performance metrics, and ensure solutions are grounded in measurable outcomes. You understand complex issues and evolving business needs, get up to speed quickly on new subject matter, and adapt effectively as circumstances change.

  • You are a problem solver. You can analyze complex situations, identify root causes, develop practical recommendations, and implement solutions within narrow time frames while working with a wide variety of stakeholders. You are comfortable translating business needs into clear requirements, functional specifications, prioritized backlogs, delivery plans, and execution decisions.

  • You are a bold and accountable leader. You bring structure, ownership, and follow-through to complex transformation and technology implementation programs. You can lead through influence, drive successful cross-functional outcomes, support team effectiveness, and help stakeholders stay focused on scope, quality, timelines, adoption, and business value.

  • You embrace and champion change. You continuously evolve your thinking and the way you work to deliver your best. You have well-developed communication and interaction skills, with the ability to convey factual and conceptual information, explain issues that require detailed interpretation, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. You help teams adopt new ways of working and establish productive relationships across leaders, departments, and partners.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and live our values of trust, teamwork, and accountability. You apply sound judgment, act with integrity, and maintain a client- and colleague-centered perspective when shaping process, platform, and operating model decisions.
