About Amp Americas

Founded in 2011, Amp Americas builds, owns, and operates Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production facilities that convert dairy waste into carbon-negative natural gas, renewable transportation fuel, and power.   Amp is a market leader and top 3 producer in the Dairy RNG industry with eight facilities across five states.  The vertically integrated company leverages over a decade of unique expertise and specialized experience in renewable fuel production, operations, and marketing to deliver comprehensive, turn-key solutions that address greenhouse gas emissions and seek to improve air, land and water quality. We are expanding our commercial portfolio to support new project development and long-term contracted revenue streams.

Position Summary

Working closely with and reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), the Director of Business Development will be an integral part of AMP’s commercial efforts, focusing on:

  • Originating and executing third-party supply and dispensing RNG environmental commodities transactions, including RINs, LCFS credits, and RTCs, focused on the 0-to-3-year timeframe (30-40%)
  • Exploring and opening up new markets to enable multi‑year (3–10+ year) offtake opportunities for AMPs assets (60-70%)

Amp is looking for an originator who can lead all aspects of both short-term and long-term transactions, from customer prospecting through contract review and negotiation, including cross-functional coordination and leadership of all details in between.  For longer term transactions, this includes developing and validating new market hypotheses or use cases across multiple relevant verticals (gas, power, data centers, C&I, etc.), building opportunity pipelines, and cultivating relevant customer relationships; a plus would be experience negotiating and executing term (>3 years) transactions.  The ability to work independently while simultaneously collaborating with the rest of the Commercial team is essential, as well as a good working knowledge of the pricing, portfolio management, and back-office functions needed to support commercial transactions.  This position will be remote‑first with frequent travel (50-60%) for industry conferences, customer visits, and team meetings (Chicago office hub available).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts around shorter-term (<3 years) third-party supply and dispensing transactions
  • Identify and investigate new longer-term (>3 years) market opportunities for carbon-negative RNG and related environmental attributes, including both compliance and voluntary buyers and use cases; develop viable customer and opportunity pipelines; execute transactions
  • Develop and own a CRM‑tracked pipeline of viable short and long term commercial offtake opportunities
  • Lead commercial transactions from first engagement and term sheet negotiation through execution of definitive documents (including structuring, pricing mechanics, credit/security, operational coordination, and deal approval).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the portfolio management, finance, legal, and back-office teams to ensure deal integrity across pricing, credit, scheduling/nomination, measurement/verification, and settlements.
  • Represent Amp at industry conferences and customer visits and develop and deliver customer education materials (decarbonization uses, case studies, carbon accounting guidance, etc.)
  • Assist CCO in developing a marketing and publicity strategy aligned to targeted market segments and long‑term offtake objectives
  • Advise and provide commercial support on expansion, greenfield and M&A opportunities (commercial diligence, offtake anchoring, and risk allocation)

Success Metrics (Outcomes)

  • Within 12 months:
    • Execution of transactions to support shorter-term (0-3 year) portfolio objectives at attractive levels
    • Build a robust pipeline of qualified, multi‑year (>3 year) opportunities; execute term sheets with strategic counterparties; demonstrate measurable contribution to enterprise value (e.g., contracted volumes, accretive pricing, counterparty credit quality).

Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in energy origination and transactional structuring, including new market analysis and development
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Source and execute shorter term (0 to 3 year) transactions
    • Develop longer term markets, including development of market hypotheses, customer cultivation, pipeline building. Experience originating and closing multi‑year (>3 year) structured offtake contracts a plus
  • Strong understanding of the entire energy industry and key verticals, including gas, power, data centers, C&I, chemicals/materials where methane is a feedstock, etc.
  • Sustainability expertise and experience preferred (e.g., environmental attribute transaction experience) but not required. RNG market knowledge and experience a plus
  • Familiarity with RFS/RINs, LCFS/CI accounting, and voluntary market instruments is beneficial.
  • Preferred but not required: Working knowledge of relevant policy and incentive frameworks (e.g., EPA RFS, California LCFS, state clean fuel programs)
  • Ability to generate opportunities independently; tenacity and persistence
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Ability to prioritize, focus, and then pivot as necessary
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (executive‑level presence; ability to build C‑suite relationships).

What We Offer

  • Compensation package commensurate with experience including significant performance-based bonus and equity
  • Career development commensurate with your abilities; opportunities to grow commercially given demonstrated aptitude and interest
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
  • Remote‑first flexibility with access to our Chicago hub and a collaborative team culture
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays
  • Opportunity to build upon your career in a company on the cutting edge of the energy industry
  • Office location is in Lincoln Park in Chicago, with proximity to the Armitage “L” station (Brown and Purple line)
