Job Summary:

The Director of Enterprise Applications will oversee the strategy, implementation, and ongoing evolution of the firm’s enterprise applications. In this role you be responsible for the strategic direction, governance, implementation, and support of the firm’s  application portfolio - including on-premise systems, cloud platforms, and SaaS solutions. This role ensures legal and business applications are secure, highly available, compliant, and aligned with firm strategy and client service objectives.   This role will have a high emphasis on the user experience to deliver platforms with the end user attorney and business services as a priority.
Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Actively advise firm management on the evolving legal software landscape by leading the firm enterprise application roadmap – strategy, configuration, and system integration - by translating firms needs into actionable solutions that enhance the practice and business of law
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve critical business and firm legal applications and services
  • Through constant and consistent collaboration across Business Services, and practice areas assure firm needs, timelines, application needs are met that focus on the reducing friction, user experience, change management, and the strategic focus of the firm.
  • Oversee project management duties for all application related activities from inception through implementation while managing timeline, delivery, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and status communications.
  • Proactively manage costs, contracts, and services around firm applications to assure spend is in line, while leveraging existing technology stack where appropriate to meet attorney and business service requirements.
  • Develop various  Key Performance Indicators that provide the firm with data driven insights that allow for continuous improvement and decision making abilities.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for software vendors by coordinating work, negotiating contracts, driving cost optimization, and managing escalations, while maintaining service excellence.
  • Manage a diverse team of management, technologists, and analysts to drive high quality work and performance, ensuring a collaborative team.

Skills and Educational Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or comparable educational background
  • 12-15 years of experience delivering, supporting, reviewing, and implementing enterprise applications in a consulting and/or legal vertical
  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, including strategy, budgeting, and staffing. 
  • Deep legal applications and law firm experience preferred
  • Expertise in MS-Office Suite and legal industry add-ins, collaboration platforms and document management systems
  • Experience and understanding of user identity and application security models; securely integrating disparate systems.
  • Experience managing hybrid (on-prem + cloud + SaaS) environments.
  • Strong analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills.
  • Proven experience developing staff, including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work across departments.
  • Ability to develop and communicate an IT vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns with the IT and business strategy.
  • Capable of building consensus, making decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives.  
  • Self-starter who self-assesses and solicits feedback from others to improve their performance. 
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging legal technologies and practices, and how other enterprises are employing them.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and complex environment.

For those applying for a position in the city of Los Angeles, the firm will consider for employment qualified applicants with a criminal history in a manner consistent with applicable federal, state and local law.

For New York City Metro area, the expected salary range for this position is between $265,000 and $295,000.   The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. 

For Los Angeles Metro area in California, the expected salary range for this position is between $245,000 and $270,000.   The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. 

For San Francisco Metro area in California, the expected salary range for this position is between $275,000 and $305,000.   The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. 

For Chicago Metro area, the expected salary range for this position is between $235,000 and $260,000.   The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
