Job Summary
The Sr. Director of Software Engineering will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for multiple software development teams, driving the design, development, and delivery of innovative and high-quality software solutions across Scientific Games' diverse product portfolio. This role is crucial for scaling engineering capabilities, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage multiple software engineering teams, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance management to Directors, Managers, and individual contributors.
* Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for key product lines, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and market demands.
* Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and architecture to deployment and ongoing maintenance, ensuring best practices in agile methodologies.
* Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and technologies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality of software delivery.
* Collaborate closely with product management, operations, and other cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver impactful products.
* Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines effectively to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of software initiatives.
* Champion a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence within the engineering organization.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
* Act as a key technical liaison for executive leadership, presenting technical strategies, progress, and challenges.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
* 15+ years of experience in software development, with at least 8 years in a leadership role managing multiple engineering teams and Directors.
* Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, high-scale software products in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience in AI-product development for gaming application using foundation models or open source SLMs is a plus.
* Strong understanding of Neural networks and fine-tuning deep neural networks is a plus.
* Deep expertise in various software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and a strong understanding of modern software architectures and design patterns.
* Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Strong understanding of security best practices in software development.
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate large engineering organizations.
* Demonstrated ability to drive strategic technical initiatives and make sound technical and business decisions.
* Experience in the gaming, lottery, or similar high-transactional industries is a must.
