Plan, execute, and complete projects within the Application Development team and will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting high-quality standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Common job activities are listed below; actual position responsibilities may vary.  Refer to your manager or human resources for specific duties and performance expectations.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resources. (50-60%)
    • Review project proposals or plans to determine a time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and the assignment of available departmental resources to various project phases.
    • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks.
    • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle and confer with project staff to outline a work plan.
    • Establish a work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
    • Direct and coordinate the activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
    • Ensure that project goals are in line with business objectives and achieve completion.
    • Monitor project activities, ensuring the currency, quality and integrity of information, while providing consistency in content and “look and feel” across the organization.
    • Review/approve the work plan of an external service provider or consultancy contracted to execute the project.
    • Facilitate the creation and presentation of project business cases.
    • Ensure the stakeholders understand the technology solution, overall solution delivery, and compliance to governance processes, architecture standards, etc.
    • Deliver high levels of customer service and responsiveness to all key project stakeholders.
    • Ensure technology is delivered securely in compliance with overall security program.
  • Lead the software development team in sprint management and Agile practices (30-35%)
    • Facilitate daily standups to monitor and orchestrate software development activities across team members and stakeholders.
    • Monitor and report on sprint velocity, burndown, defect rates, and release quality metrics to drive continuous improvement.
    • Manage and prioritize the product backlog to refine requirements, define acceptance criteria, and ensure the highest-value features and enhancements are delivered in alignment with business objectives.
    • Lead sprint retrospectives by fostering a collaborative environment, capturing team feedback, and tracking follow-up items to enhance team performance over time.
  • Create and implement a project communication plan. (15-20%)
    • Prepare project reports and presentations for management, client, or others.
    • Foster effective communication among team members and stakeholders to ensure everyone is informed and aligned.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned. (0-5%)

  • Establish and maintain positive and productive work relationships with all staff, customers and business partners.
  • Demonstrate the behavioral and technical competencies necessary to effectively complete job responsibilities. Take personal initiative for technical and professional development.
  • Follow the company HR Policy, the Code of Business Conduct and all subsidiary and department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company information, attending work punctually and regularly, and following good safety practices in all activities.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science; or equivalent related work experience.

Experience:

  • 7+ years’ progressively responsible IT experience with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving.
  • 7+ years of successfully managing complex software engineering projects.
  • 5+years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with program management or portfolio management.
  • Experience managing complex software development initiatives, including application modernization, system integrations, and migrations across platforms (e.g., legacy to cloud-native applications, API-driven integrations, or adoption of modern development frameworks).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient with project management software such as Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or equivalent.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including group presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Highly effective organizational, administrative and project management skills.
  • Proficient in prioritizing and handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently under deadline pressure.
  • Highly effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High degree of integrity, resourcefulness, self-motivation, detail and action oriented.
  • Proficiency with computer and software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Wage: $135,000 - $155,000 annually; actual wage is based upon education and experience. Potential for annual discretionary bonus.
