Position Summary

This team directly impacts the lives of our pharmacy customers by creating systems that process prescriptions. The systems we work with process over 10 million scripts a day and is business critical. You can work knowing you are helping many people each day.

The Senior Software Manager position reports to an executive director and exists to lead Innovation and Automation Team in the development and delivery of AI/ML-based tools aimed at enhancing operational efficiency across the department.

This role will focus 75% on development and delivery management and 25% on operational oversight, ensuring that our projects align with organizational goals while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

You will lead process improvement initiatives, innovation and drive continuous improvement efforts across the organization. You will also support the Organization with managing deliverables related to ad hoc internal team management and senior leadership updates, participate in annual budgeting, capital processes and quality improvement activities for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Development and Delivery Management

  • Lead the development and delivery of innovative AI/ML tools, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.

  • Manage project planning, resource allocation, and skillset mapping to ensure successful project execution.

  • Guide project teams in adhering to technical and functional standards, best practices, and organizational processes.

  • Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration within the development team, encouraging innovative thinking and exploration of new technologies.

  • Monitor project milestones and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • You should have a deep understanding, follow and provide guidance to project teams and resources on principles, practices and techniques followed within the application area and organization.

  • Participate in annual budgeting and capital processes, providing quantitative cost/benefit analyses for projects.

  • You will actively participate in recruitment and selection processes for both CVS and vendor candidates, as well as lead onsite and offshore vendor relationships.

  • Conduct regular assessments of team performance, providing feedback and support for career development.

  • Provide comprehensive feedback on strengths and development areas Oversee, review and take action on time sheets for CVS and vendor resource to ensure compliance.

  • Commitment to ensuring teams adheres to the highest degree of integrity and Code of Conduct standards

  • Foster a positive colleague experience by identifying opportunities for engagement and implementing communication strategies around organizational changes.

Customer Relationship Management

  • You will consult with business and IT stakeholders during execution of projects to ensure business and IT expectations are being met.

  • You will address any challenge or road block to accomplish project goals and expectations.

  • You will identify and develop services and service level agreements (SLAs); educate senior leaders on service-related information and continually improve related processes

Operations Management

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency within the department.

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify critical priorities and drive operational change to achieve organizational goals.

  • Analyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement, cost reduction, and increased productivity via implementing tools.

  • Manage the development and implementation of quality standards, operating policies, and procedures.

  • Oversee the planning and financial budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with functional and organizational priorities.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational efficiency and identify enhancement opportunities.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, communicating progress and challenges to organizational leaders.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of Information Technology experience including leadership and development management experience in core development, innovation and delivery areas including the following:

  • 5+ years of experience leading large or multiple application teams to deliver projects and initiatives effectively

  • 8+ years of experience in information technology principles, development methodologies and use of platforms/applications or software products

  • 5+ years of experience mentoring and supervising full time employees work and career development; as well as onsite and offshore vendor relationships

  • 5+ years of experience in handling customer expectations and relationship building

  • 5+ years partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams to influence product development decisions

  • 3+ years of experience working on projects using mature CI/CD practices, source control such as GIT, and automated testing

  • 2+ years of experience working with large public cloud technologies (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure, AI and ML)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health Care and PBM background

  • AS400 / IBMi Series experience

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $260,590.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
