Job Purpose and Impact

In this role, you will apply modern software engineering, infrastructure as code, and site reliability practices to build secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable network capabilities. You will provide technical leadership across Network, Cloud, Hosting, Security, Enablement Tooling, and Infrastructure Automation teams.
Key Accountabilities
- NETWORK SOLUTIONS: Designs, implements and maintains network solutions to meet organizational needs, including creating network diagrams and blueprints.
- NETWORK DEVICES CONFIGURATION: Sets up and configures various complex network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, virtual private networks and software defined networking to maintain optimal performance and security.
- TROUBLESHOOTING & DIAGNOSTICS: Performs complex troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining network reliability.
- NETWORK MAINTENANCE: Leads routine maintenance and updates on network systems, including applying patches, service packs and security configurations.
- PERFORMANCE MONITORING & OPTIMIZATION: Monitors network performance, maintains system availability and reliability, and makes necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
- SECURITY MEASURES: Sustains network security by leading the implementation of appropriate measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and encryption technologies.
- DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING: Develops and implements disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of network failures.
- NETWORK AUTOMATION: Develops and implements automation and tools to streamline network operations, including configuration management, device provisioning and software updates.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in network engineering, network automation, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise WAN or SD-WAN environments, with a strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, VPN technologies, network security, and high-availability design.
- Demonstrated experience developing network automation with Python, Git-based workflows, REST APIs, and configuration or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
Preferred:
- Eight or more years of experience designing, automating, and supporting network platforms in a large, globally distributed enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience engineering and operating Versa Networks SD-WAN, including Versa Director, Analytics, Controller, and branch appliance capabilities, or comparable enterprise SD-WAN platforms.
- Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, route redistribution, IPsec, quality of service, VRFs and segmentation, NAT, DNS, DHCP, firewall policy, resilient underlay and overlay design, and secure internet access patterns.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for network infrastructure using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent tools, including automated testing, code quality checks, approval controls, and deployment rollback.
- Experience creating network automation services and integrations using Python, FastAPI, Go, JavaScript, REST APIs, data models, and structured formats such as JSON and YAML.
- Experience with automated network testing and validation frameworks such as pytest, pyATS, Batfish, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with network observability and performance management using Datadog, Versa analytics, SNMP, syslog, streaming telemetry, dashboards, and event correlation.
- Experience with cloud networking and connectivity across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including secure, multi-region, and highly available architectures.
- Working knowledge of Linux, containers, secrets management, role-based access control, vulnerability remediation, and secure software development practices.
- Experience working within Agile engineering teams and ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Ability to produce clear architecture documentation, low-level designs, engineering standards, implementation plans, test plans, and operational runbooks.
- Demonstrated ability to influence across teams, lead complex technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as Versa Networks certification, CCNP Enterprise, Cisco DevNet Professional, cloud networking certification, or equivalent are preferred.
