About Us:

Here at Ambience, we never set out to be just another scribe. We’re building the AI intelligence platform that restores humanity to healthcare and drives meaningful ROI for health systems across the country.

Our technology helps providers focus on delivering great care by removing the administrative burden that pulls them away from patients and away from their most impactful work. Ambience delivers real-time coding-aware documentation and clinical workflow support across ambulatory, emergency and inpatient settings at the top health systems in North America.

Our teams operate relentlessly with extreme ownership to build the best solutions for our health system partners. We value candor, positivity and deep thought — and we expect a lot from each other because we know the problems we’re solving truly matter.

Ambience was ranked #1 for Improving the Clinician Experience in the KLAS Research Emerging Solutions Top 20 Report, recognized by Fast Company as one of the Next Big Things in Tech, named one of the best AI companies in healthcare by Inc., and selected as a LinkedIn Top Startup in 2024 and 2025. We’re backed by Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), OpenAI Startup Fund, and Kleiner Perkins — and we’re just getting started.

The Role

As the People Operations Manager, you will own the operational foundation of our People function. This role is responsible for the day-to-day systems, processes, and programs that support the full employee lifecycle and ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency as the company scales.

This is a hands-on execution role with real ownership. You will be accountable for making sure People operations run reliably across onboarding, payroll coordination, job changes, performance cycles, and off-boarding. You’ll partner closely with Talent, Finance, Legal, IT, and Workplace to ensure that People processes are well-integrated, compliant, and dependable, especially as volume and complexity increase.

This role is well suited for someone who brings strong operational judgment, is comfortable owning critical workflows end to end, and takes pride in building durable systems that reduce risk and friction for employees and the business.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and execute core People operations, including onboarding, employee changes, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and off-boarding

  • Design and maintain compliant operational processes that scale without relying on ad hoc fixes or manual workarounds

  • Operationalize People programs such as performance reviews, compensation planning, and promotion cycles, ensuring timelines, data integrity, and accurate execution

  • Maintain high-quality People data and systems, partnering with Finance and leadership to support reporting, audits, and decision-making

  • Manage cross-functional coordination across Recruiting, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Workplace to deliver a cohesive employee lifecycle

  • Build and maintain clear workflows, documentation, and controls to reduce operational risk and eliminate single points of failure

  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks in People operations and proactively partner with People leadership to address them

Who You Are
  • You are a strong People Operations operator who takes ownership of critical systems and processes that impact employees and the business

  • You bring 7+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Programs, or Talent Operations, ideally in a scaling or high-growth environment

  • You have direct experience executing People programs and workflows with a high degree of accuracy and accountability

  • You are detail-oriented and quality-driven, with a high bar for data integrity, compliance, and operational rigor especially in areas related to pay, employment status, and employee records

  • You have hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, onboarding tools, and compliance-related workflows, and are comfortable improving or redesigning systems as needed

  • You exercise strong judgment around operational and regulatory risk, and know how to partner effectively with Legal, Finance, and external vendors

  • You work well cross-functionally, coordinating with Recruiting, IT, Security, Workplace, and Finance to ensure smooth execution without unnecessary complexity

  • You are motivated by building reliable, scalable operations and take pride in making complex processes simpler, more transparent, and dependable over time

Pay Transparency

The base compensation for this role is approximately $145,000-$175,000 per year, excluding equity or bonus targets. We’ve intentionally allocated a wider range so that candidates have more flexibility to choose the desired cash/equity split that works for them. Philosophically, we lean towards generous equity grants so that our team truly gets to share in the impact they create.

Are you outside of the range? We encourage you to still apply: we take an individualized approach to ensure that compensation accounts for all of the life factors that matter for each candidate.
