The Sr Product Owner is a pivotal member of a cross-functional team, and on this team will drive the delivery of Enterprise Productivity Solutions. This role demands a blend of technical acumen (ideally with an engineering background) and extensive experience in product ownership to navigate complex initiatives and decompose epics into actionable workstreams. The Sr Product Owner partners closely with Product Managers to translate long-term vision into tactical strategies, ensuring alignment and transparent communication to achieve business outcomes. Collaboration is at the core, requiring regular engagement with stakeholders, end users, and both functional and technical team members to rapidly deliver high-quality solutions.
Success in this role hinges on exceptional organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities, and a proactive approach to driving results in a dynamic environment. Experience with enterprise productivity ecosystems such as Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint), MS Exchange, Copilot, Adobe Creative Cloud, and collaboration tools like Miro are highly preferred in this role.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of core product fundamentals, including product definition, customer personas, value proposition, and roadmap development.
  • Collaborates with the Product Manager to decompose strategic initiatives from product roadmap into Epics, Features and user stories, ensuring it reflects both short-term deliverables and long-term vision.
  • Maintains and refines the product backlog, writing user stories with clear acceptance criteria and prioritizing work that aligns with organizational strategy to deliver continuous business value.
  • Collaborates with customers and stakeholders to refine product features, user stories, and acceptance criteria while identifying and managing impacts and dependencies.
  • Builds trusting partnerships with stakeholders and customers, establishing continuous feedback loops to ensure evolving needs are met in alignment with strategic goals
  • Maintains awareness of market trends and engages customers and technical teams to evolve the product strategy and roadmap in alignment with Thrivent’s priorities.
  • Leans into the work of developing and socializing product strategy with senior leaders across the company
  • Acquires and applies advanced knowledge of how the product integrates within the broader organizational ecosystem, including related business processes and experiences.
  • Models Thrivent’s leadership competencies by demonstrating resilience, embracing ambiguity, applying a problem-solving mindset, and holding self and others accountable to overcome obstacles and achieve product and organizational goals.
  • Facilitates cross-team collaborations to identify interdependencies and align product roadmaps and sprint plans across multiple teams.
  • Partners with Scrum Masters to plan and execute agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, product demos, and retrospectives.
  • Develop and track KPIs that measure product effectiveness and communicate these to stakeholders and business leaders on a regular basis

  • No direct personnel supervisory responsibility, however, supervises large complex product teams with cross-functional team members.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

 Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years relevant business experience
  • Understand fundamentals of iterative development, software development process and procedures
  • Expertise in the principles of Agile Product Management, stakeholder management, market and user research, technology management, and process design
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Passion and understanding of new technology and trends
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills among all organizational levels; strong facilitation and executive communications skills

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years in product ownership or product management within a technical space.
  • Strong understanding of software development, agile methodologies, and product lifecycle management, including definition, personas, value proposition, and roadmap development.
  • Proficient with backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and agile ceremonies.
  • Proven ability to develop business cases, roadmaps, and execution strategies for complex products.
  • Skilled at prioritizing work against enterprise and product strategies and translating initiatives into actionable features and user stories with clear business value.
  • Experience in developing and tracking KPIs to measure product health and outcomes.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented; demonstrates initiative and ownership.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise productivity ecosystems: Microsoft 365, MS Exchange, Copilot, Adobe Creative Cloud, and collaboration tools like Miro.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value; comfortable engaging with technical teams and understanding architecture, integrations, and product capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills across all organizational levels; strong facilitation and executive communication capabilities.
  • Strong leadership skills to influence without authority; adept at creating clarity in matrixed and ambiguous environments.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $132,814.00 - $179,690.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
