Job Description

Sr. Systems Engineer- Non-Exempt

Role Type: Contract to Hire

Work Status: U.S Citizen or Green Card Holder

Start: ASAP

Location: Fully On-site – Itasca, IL

Hourly Rate: $80-$90

What You’ll Do

Burwood is currently looking for candidates to join the IT team at a client in Itasca, Il. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the company's IT infrastructure. This role involves managing and maintaining enterprise-wide systems, overseeing installations, upgrades, and patches, and proactively addressing potential issues. The Senior Systems Engineer will also mentor junior team members and contribute to the development and implementation of IT solutions.

  • Oversee and support Azure, Office 365, and AWS environments
  • Install, upgrade, patch, and maintain Windows Server 2016/2022 systems
  • Identify and proactively resolve issues affecting Windows Server performance and stability
  • Deploy and manage Windows servers in both Azure and AWS cloud platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Active Directory, email systems, Office 365, and server infrastructure
  • Manage and support Microsoft enterprise technologies, including Office 365, Active Directory, Exchange, and other E5 services, both on-premises and in the cloud
  • Develop and maintain change control procedures and technical documentation for Windows, Azure, and AWS solutions
  • Serve as a technical expert and mentor to junior staff in cloud, server, and email administration

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (preferred)
  • CCNA (preferred)
  • Required 3+ years’ experience in a Systems Administration role with in-depth, hands-on experience in the following areas: Azure, Exchange and all O365 apps, and AWS
  • Required 3+ years Applicable experience includes, but is not limited to, computer and networking infrastructure, operating systems, application software development, project management, regulator
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information handled by IT systems
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and apply analytical thinking to problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in drafting clear technical documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with effective communication and critical analysis abilities
  • A dependable team player who thrives in both individual and group settings
