Staff Accountant – Mortgage (Lombard, IL)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proficient in accounting and financial management software and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • 1–3 years of related professional Accounting/Finance experience
  • Mortgage or financial services industry experience a plus

Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant supports the accounting functions for our Forward division and reports directly to the Senior Accountant – Mortgage. This position is an individual contributor role that requires strong attention to detail and organization, and offers regular exposure to divisional financial reporting as a foundation for growth within the accounting team.

  • Support the Senior Accountant in the timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and accounting reports in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist in preparing components of the monthly profit and loss statements for assigned branches, under the Senior Accountant's review
  • Gather and organize supporting documentation for branch-level transaction questions and P&L inquiries
  • Assist with calculating and entering loan sale and revenue entries under supervision
  • Prepare daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations for assigned ledgers
  • Support the Senior Accountant and accounting operations team in maintaining general ledger structure and data integrity across branches
  • Assist with various accounting projects and ad hoc requests as needed
  • Identify and flag opportunities for process improvement in day-to-day accounting tasks

This is an on-site position based out of our Lombard, IL office.
The salary range for this position is $60,000-$75,000 annually.
