BRG Corporate Accounting is hiring for a Staff Accountant. At BRG, we are working together to build a world-class accounting department and provide our stakeholders with timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial information.

The Staff Accountant role provides an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced mentors within the organization while joining a company that is growing and evolving. This individual will be responsible for multiple accounting systems and will work directly with IT, Corporate MIS, and other stakeholders across the organization. The role will also collaborate with vendors, with appropriate oversight, to solve problems, optimize system capabilities, and identify opportunities to reduce manual processes.

In addition to developing strong systems knowledge, the Staff Accountant will perform traditional accounting responsibilities, including preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, maintaining account subledgers, analyzing general ledger activity, and explaining account variances.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, detail-oriented, and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork, and supporting firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment. This position requires strong communication, technology, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with the attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Propose and prepare standard recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including adjusting entries.
  • Perform analysis of general ledger activity, including account reconciliations.
  • Maintain account subledgers and certify monthly reconciliations.
  • Assist with variance analysis and review financial statement transactions as part of the period-end close process.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Billing, and other departments to identify, resolve, and reduce accounting issues.
  • Act as a system administrator for the ERP system, Workday, as well as ancillary accounting systems such as BlackLine and Visual Lease.
  • Collaborate with IT and third-party consultants to create and troubleshoot integrations between accounting systems.
  • Periodically review access to accounting systems and document reviews in accordance with internal controls.
  • Prepare audit schedules in collaboration with the General Ledger team to support a clean and timely year-end audit for U.S. and foreign entities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting processes and increase efficiencies.
  • Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business grows and changes.
  • Contribute to the organization in a professional manner and maintain a positive, collaborative attitude.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in accounting or auditing.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Willingness and ability to learn accounting systems and system integrations.
  • Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Consistent attendance and reliability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.

Candidate must be able to provide verification of legal authorization to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
