Position Overview: 
We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer with extensive experience in designing, building, and optimizing streaming solutions for our Data Platform. This role will be pivotal in shaping our data architecture, leading a talented team, and collaborating across departments to deliver data-driven insights that influence business decisions. 

Due to FedRAMP requirements, US Citizenship is required to be considered for this role

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient streaming data pipelines and architectures. 

  • Promote best practices in data management and analytics. 

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical specifications. 

  • Manage and optimize existing data systems, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the business. 

  • Evaluate and implement new data technologies and tools to enhance data processing and self-service capabilities. 

  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations. 

  • Develop and maintain documentation for data systems and engineering processes. 

  • Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of data processes. 

Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles. 

  • Experience with Java

  • Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Flink/Spark, Apache Kafka, Airflow). 

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). 

  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift). 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 

  • Strong knowledge of datastore systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data integration tools 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience in machine learning and understanding of data science concepts. 

  • Familiarity with data governance and metadata management practices. 

Within the first 30 days you will:   

  • Complete onboarding with HR  

  • Get their environment set up  

  • Take on some tickets, bugs. Resolving some tech debt or bugs form backlog to start; something that doesn’t require a lot of subject matter expertise.    

  • All work committed has tests  

  • Complete the ISC-specific courses  

  • Review the body of documentation on Search and Reporting

  • New hire maintains availability during core business hours and effectively communicates issues ahead of time.  

  

By 90 days you will be able to:   

  • Passing the 90 day probationary period.   

  • Participate in the on-call rotation  

  • Do a technical design if the opportunity is available  

  • Give a presentation on something they don’t like about the system or an area that has room for improvement  

  • Presenting their work at feature demos 

  • Contribute in a significant way to team documentation 

  

By 6 months you will be able to:  

  • Mentoring if the opportunity is available  

  • Know how system works and be able to do cross-service changes confidently 

  • Able to work independently on any task 

  • Has the knowledge base expected of active Search and Reporting team member 

  • Contribute significantly to sprint goals 

  • Regularly defines and upholds PR code review quality for the team 

  

By 1 year you will be able to:  

  • Be part of the interview panel for new roles  

  • Participate in owning tech design document if the opportunity is available  

  • Leading cross-team involvement if the opportunity is available 

  • Participating in customer and professional services calls 

  • Attends relevant learning opportunities and presents to the team 

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):

$132,440 - $189,200 - $245,960

Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
