About Arm
Arm is the industry's leading supplier of microprocessor technology, offering the widest range of microprocessor cores to address the performance, power, and cost requirements for almost all application markets. With a vibrant ecosystem of over a thousand partners and more than 150 billion processors shipped, our technology is at the heart of a computing and connectivity revolution that continues to transform the way people live and businesses operate.
The CPU DevOps team is part of Arm's worldwide CPU development group. This diverse, engineering-focused team defines, designs, and builds Arm microprocessor IP.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to help develop, operate, and evolve the engineering infrastructure used to design and verify Arm's high-performance CPUs.
This is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of software engineering, hardware verification, and high-performance computing (HPC). You will work closely with CPU design and verification engineers to improve the infrastructure, tools, and workflows that enable large-scale hardware development.
Responsibilities
You will contribute to the development and operation of infrastructure supporting CPU design and verification, including:
  • Design, develop, and test - Applying sound software engineering practices, including code review, automated testing, documentation, version control, and maintainable software architecture
  • Software used to automate CPU development and verification workflows through direct interactions with CPU design and verification engineers
  • Tools and automation for submitting, managing, monitoring, and analyzing distributed compute workloads
  • Observability of engineering infrastructure through metrics, logging, dashboards, alerting, and automated diagnostics
  • Improve CI and regression infrastructure used by hardware design and verification teams
  • Integrations between source control, CI systems, verification tools, workload schedulers, and engineering services
  • Debug, investigate, and diagnose
  • Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve compute utilization, verification throughput, and turnaround time
  • Solve complex problems that cross boundaries between software, hardware verification tools, operating systems, compute infrastructure, and storage
  • Supporting large-scale verification workloads running across HPC compute farms
  • Contribute to technical direction and engineering improvements within the wider CPU development environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
You will need:
  • Robust software engineering background
  • Record of delivering production quality software or engineering infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles: API design, testing, debugging, source control, code review, and maintainability
  • High-performance or large-scale compute environments
  • Management and monitoring of distributed workloads
  • Diagnosis of system and application issues using logs, metrics, profiling, tracing, or other observability techniques
  • Hardware design and verification flows
  • Understanding of concepts such as simulation, regression testing, test execution, results consolidation, and failure analysis
  • Expertise in at least one of these languages: Python, Ruby. Shell scripting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Linux systems
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD or other automated build, test, and regression systems
  • Proven track record of strong problem solving skills across multiple components within a complex engineering environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to bridge diverse development communities: software engineers, hardware designers, verification engineers, infrastructure teams

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • CPU, SoC, ASIC, or other semiconductor design and verification environments
  • Knowledge of SystemVerilog
  • Hardware simulation, emulation, formal verification, regression management tools
  • Analysis of large volumes of verification and regression data
  • Product release and maintenance
  • Packaging and release of hardware products
  • Automated packaging and testing flow development
  • Internal and external standards' compliance, e.g. IP-XACT
  • High performance compute workload management: IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm, or similar systems
  • Jenkins or other continuous integration orchestration systems
  • Linux system programming, process management, resource accounting, and performance analysis
  • Containerized development and execution environments
  • Networked storage

What Success Looks Like
  • In this role, you will become a trusted engineering contributor to the CPU development environment. You will understand both the software infrastructure and the verification workflows it supports, allowing you to identify problems that are difficult to see from either perspective alone.
  • Your work will help engineers run verification more efficiently, diagnose failures more quickly, make better use of compute resources, and spend less time dealing with infrastructure. You will deliver maintainable software and automation that can operate reliably at the scale required by modern high-performance CPU development.

Education and Experience
  • A degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related subject area is desirable. 5-10 years of experience in a relevant area is required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-quality software and solving complex engineering infrastructure problems in a collaborative technical environment.

What Sets You Apart
Beyond technical expertise, we're looking for someone who:
  • Brings a can-do, proactive attitude and takes ownership of problems end-to-end.
  • Is willing to go the extra mile to deliver robust, high-quality solutions.
  • Has a strong sense of curiosity and is eager to learn new domains, even when they're outside your current comfort zone.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys learning from-and contributing to-a team of experts.

What We Offer
  • A hybrid working model that balances flexibility with in-person collaboration.
  • Time in the office to foster strong team connections and technical collaboration, while remaining accommodating to individual working needs.
  • The opportunity to work on industry-defining IP that powers products used by billions of people worldwide.

Salary Range:
$198,100-$268,000 per year
We value people as individuals and our dedication is to reward people competitively and equitably for the work they do and the skills and experience they bring to Arm. Salary is only one component of Arm's offering. The total reward package will be shared with candidates during the recruitment and selection process.

Use of AI in Your Application
At Arm, we embrace the benefits AI can bring, including in recruitment. You may use AI to support your preparation, such as improving the clarity of written responses, practicing interview questions, or learning more about our industry. However, your application and interview responses must reflect your own thinking, experience, and abilities. We want to understand your authentic perspective, creativity, and approach to problem solving. As such, you may not use AI to complete assigned tasks as part of any assessments. If you plan to use AI-supported or assistive technologies as part of a reasonable adjustment, please contact [email protected] so we can support you.
Recruitment Adjustments and Accommodations
At Arm, we want to build extraordinary teams. If you need an adjustment or an accommodation during the recruitment process, please email [email protected] . To note, by sending us the requested information, you consent to its use by Arm to arrange for appropriate accommodations. All accommodation or adjustment requests will be treated with confidentiality, and information concerning these requests will only be disclosed as necessary to provide the accommodation. Please email us about anything we can do to accommodate you during the recruitment process.
Hybrid Working
Arm's approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team's needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.
