Micron's QRA RMA team is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of SSD product reliability and performance. We work closely with engineering, business, and customer-facing teams to analyze returned products, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement.
Position Overview:
Welcome! As a Staff Electrical Engineer - SSD Failure Analysis, you will lead formal failure analysis efforts on customer-returned SSDs, identifying root causes at both the electrical and physical levels. You will manage critical RMA cases, produce detailed reports, and serve as a technical liaison to internal and external collaborators.
This role is performed onsite daily in the lab.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth electrical diagnostics using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power measurement tools to isolate component-level failures.
  • Collaborate with hardware design, firmware, and validation teams to replicate electrical anomalies and propose corrective actions for future product revisions.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical failure analysis on returned SSDs
  • Generate and communicate comprehensive FA reports to internal and external teams
  • Lead customer concerns for RMA cases, ensuring timely resolution and updates
  • Set up and manage debug systems for DOE and error replication
  • Provide technical consultation and support to customer-facing teams
  • Coach and mentor engineers early in their careers

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electronics, Computer, or Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering, system engineering, validation, or quality assurance
  • Proven experience with electrical debugging tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, bus analyzers) and hands-on hardware repair or rework.
  • Hands on electrical failure analysis to board and component level
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power delivery, and component-level failure mechanisms in high-speed storage devices.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and perform board-level analysis for SSD and NAND-based systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the storage industry and customer-facing technical roles
  • Familiarity with PCIe, SATA, and bus tracing tools for system debugging
  • Strong time management and project coordination skills
  • Self-motivated and dedicated to continuous technical development
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$96,000.00 - $203,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
