Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced State & Local Tax (SALT) –Indirect Senior Tax Manager to join our people‑centered, entrepreneurial public accounting firm. In this key leadership role, you will help shape, expand, and elevate a growing SALT practice. This role focuses on a broad range of indirect tax consulting and compliance services, including Sales & Use Tax, Personal Property Tax, Payroll Tax, Unclaimed Property, and Credits & Incentives. The ideal candidate brings a well-rounded indirect tax background and enjoys helping clients navigate complex multistate tax challenges while contributing to practice growth, business development, and team leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver indirect tax consulting and compliance services related to Sales & Use Tax, Personal Property Tax, Payroll Tax, Unclaimed Property, and Credits & Incentives programs.
  • Perform nexus reviews, taxability analyses, voluntary disclosure agreements, refund recovery studies, registrations, audit defense, and technical research across multiple taxing jurisdictions.
  • Assist clients in identifying and securing applicable state and local tax credits, incentives, and economic development opportunities.
  • Prepare technical memorandums, client correspondence, and presentations addressing complex state and local tax matters.
  • Manage multiple client engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting indirect tax and communicate emerging issues and planning opportunities to clients.
  • Serve as a thought leader within the SALT practice and contribute to service line growth initiatives.
  • Participate in staff recruiting, training, mentoring, and development.
  • Play a key role in new business development activities and identify opportunities to expand service offerings with existing and prospective clients.
  • Attend professional development and industry training programs on a regular basis.

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA, JD, CMI or Enrolled Agent preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience providing indirect tax consulting and compliance services, including Sales & Use Tax, Personal Property Tax, Payroll Tax, Unclaimed Property, and/or Credits & Incentives.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
  • Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology.
