About Cohere Commerce

Cohere Commerce is the leading AI-native retail intelligence platform built for physical commerce, trusted by buyers, consultants, and investors across North America. Backed by top-tier investors with millions in funding, and partnered with major retailers like Target and Sprouts, we deliver real-time, validated insights that help the industry make smarter assortment decisions, streamline supply chains, and elevate the customer experience. As we continue to grow, you’ll play a foundational role in shaping the future of retail intelligence from the ground floor.

About the role

This is a broad, cross-functional seat at the center of how we turn retail signal into things the market reads and acts on. You will work across three focuses: growth, editorial publishing (including Observed, our category-insights series), and retail trend analysis. You will not work in a silo. You will partner with the founders and our Data Team day to day, and if you want to go deeper, get hands-on alongside Engineering. It is a rare chance to sit between the business and the data, and own real output from your first week.

What you'll do

Retail Trend Analysis

Analyze platform and retail data to identify category trends, breakout brands, and momentum shifts before they become obvious to the market. Partner with the Data Team to refine the underlying methodology, distinguishing meaningful signal from noise.

Data-led Growth

Design and run growth and top-of-funnel experiments, identifying the highest-leverage levers, testing them, and measuring their impact. Support outreach, partnerships, and audience-building initiatives that expand our reach across buyers, brands, and investors.

Editorial Publishing (including Observed)

Own the publishing cadence across our content ladder, from social cards to one-pagers to full reports. Translate data into clear, defensible narratives that a senior merchant or investor would respect and act on.

What we're looking for

Required

  • Graduate student with prior experience in an analyst-type role, such as consulting, banking, equity research, strategy, or business development. MBA candidates are a strong fit, but we welcome strong candidates from other disciplines and backgrounds.

  • Collaborative by default. You like working across teams and learning from people who think differently than you do.

  • Fluent with AI tools as a daily multiplier, not a novelty. You reach for them by instinct.

  • A sharp writer who can make a number tell a story without overselling it.

  • Self-directed and organized, comfortable juggling growth, content, and analysis in the same week.

Nice to have

  • Some data background, comfortable pulling, cleaning, and reasoning over messy data.

  • CPG, retail, or consumer-brand exposure.

  • Interest in working alongside a technical team (Data, Engineering).

  • Experience publishing research, newsletters, or market commentary.
