Job Description

The Sustainability Manager will support the deployment and execution of Amcor’s sustainability initiatives and objectives. This position will be responsible for sustainable packaging metrics and reporting, including translating reporting into business insights that improve site performance, support commercial growth in PCR and recycle-ready materials, and respond to customer sustainability requests. The role will serve as a central point of contact and support for the Business Group, acting as a subject matter expert and resource to ensure appropriate support for the BG and help advance Amcor’s sustainability agenda and goals.

Your Role in Unpacking Possibilities:

Strategy Execution

  • Align with the Director of Sustainability and BG/BU leadership to define, track, and own key sustainable packaging metrics. Manage monthly and quarterly metric tracking and reporting, translate results into actionable business insights, and present findings to Amcor leadership teams.
  • Aligned with our Purpose, Values and Behaviour, manage and support AFNA sustainable packaging priorities. Partner with Commercial, R&D, Operations, and other teams to improve visibility into PCR and recycle-ready packaging sales, connect performance to business value, and support targeted action plans.
  • Ensure that AFNA sustainability initiatives are in alignment with the broader company sustainability goals and framework.

Program Management

  • Support organizational commitment and engagement by integrating sustainable packaging data, metrics, and reporting into core business processes and decision-making.
  • Collaborates with internal business functions (product development, sales/commercial, innovation, operations, engineering, procurement, communications) to support the sustainability plan.
  • Clarify, maintain, and improve standardized processes for supporting customer sustainability requests, including requests related to EPR/FPR compliance, LCA/PCFs, material sustainability data, and Amcor’s ESG performance and sustainability efforts.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert for sustainable packaging reporting and customer sustainability support by monitoring relevant trends, programs, and issues, and building organizational awareness through ongoing communication and education.

Technical

  • Drive the Business Group’s progress against sustainable packaging and public sustainability goals by ensuring accurate and timely reporting, improving reporting processes, and using site-level and commercial performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.

What We Want From You:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Environmental Science, or Engineering, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in engineering or business positions related to improving the sustainability profile of manufactured products, preferably plastics
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working with large datasets to identify trends, validate results, and translate data into business insights.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools, including Power BI or similar platforms, to improve data accessibility, performance tracking, and business decision-making.
  • Comfort leveraging generative AI tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work, while applying sound judgment, validation, and appropriate confidentiality practices.
  • Practical knowledge of sustainable packaging, packaging circularity, recycling systems, and relevant commercial and regulatory frameworks, including EPR/FPR, PCR mandates, recyclability requirements, customer sustainability frameworks, material and site certifications, and corporate sustainability reporting expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate sustainability reporting outputs into business action, including identifying site performance gaps, supporting customer needs, communicating commercial value, and driving improvement actions with cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrated professional work characteristics including high initiative, dependability, and credibility
  • Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to manage recurring reporting processes, customer request workflows, and cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution; PMP certification preferred.
  • Able to differentiate between conflicting priorities and issues to identify underlying causes
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Well organized and comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to support reporting discipline, customer request management, and sustainability decision-making.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls large work volume in fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision

CompensationThe starting salary for this position is expected to be between $112,800 to $141,000; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $112,800 to $169,200 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits. The salary range provided reflects the anticipated base pay for this role at the time of this posting. This range is applicable to positions performed in jurisdictions with pay transparency requirements, including CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, Washington DC, as well as remote roles that may be performed in these locations. Compensation for roles performed outside of these jurisdictions may vary. The Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.
