Professional Level 

Senior Consultant

Responsibilities 

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise systems and environments (Windows, Linux, RHEL, VMware, Azure/AWS).  
  • Support provisioning, configuration, and patching of servers and virtual machines.  
  • Implement and enforce system security controls in compliance with VA directives and federal standards (FedRAMP, FISMA, IRS 1075, HIPAA).  
  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity using tools such as Splunk, Azure Monitor, and custom dashboards.  
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, outages, and system degradation.  
  • Manage user accounts, authentication, and access controls (Active Directory, MFA, RBAC).  
  • Perform regular backups, restore operations, and assist with disaster recovery testing.  
  • Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.  
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to support modernization, migration, and integration efforts.  
  • Support change management, patching, and vulnerability remediation processes.  
  • Provide Tier 1/2 escalation and after-hours support for critical incidents as needed. 

 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related technical discipline.  
  • 4 years of relevant system administration experience; 8 additional years may be substituted for education.  
  • Experience with enterprise operating systems (Windows, Linux, RHEL), virtualization (VMware), and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, VAEC).  
  • Understanding of security frameworks, compliance requirements, and access management.  
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Splunk, Azure Monitor).  
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.  
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and support after-hours escalation. 
Salary Range
$61,180$80,000 USD

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
