A Day in the Life
A Systems Analyst works under general supervision having an overall broad depth of hospital and information systems technology. A person in this position can conduct a business requirement reviews, includes business and user needs, documents requirements, formulates business requirements, generates systems scope and objectives for moderately complex information systems, may make suggestions for workflow and process improvements, may modify, test and implement 3rd party software or create simple programmatic/scripted solutions, may lead small to mid-size teams on small to mid-size projects (40-80hrs) involving less-complex systems with low integration. Fully documents requirements, testing, code/script, processes and workflow. A Systems Analyst in this position is expected to guide and advise Associate Systems Analysts.
What’s Required
- Bachelors Degree ( preferably IS/Business or healthcare emphasis)
- Or 2-year Associates Degree with 2 years if relevant experience (IS/Business/ or Healthcare)
- Or Highschool Diploma or GED and 4 years of experience in Information Systems (IS) and in healthcare
Technical Knowledge (required)
Working knowledge of MS Desktop products
Knowledge of Client/Server applications specifically:
PointClickCare
Natus
General understanding of:
Common programming languages (like C++ and Java)
IT Selection and Implementation Methodology
Software development best practices
Required technical documentation including flowcharts
Interpreting vendor technical requirements
Relational database concepts
Operating Systems (such as AIX, Windows, MAC and Linux)
Types of hardware, storage and computing capacity of computers
Back up processes and disaster recovery
Common technical terminology
Computer security procedures and protocols
Network topologies
Report writing tools
