Broadridge is Growing! We are seeking a Tax Data Analyst who is responsible for validating the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of trading and tax-lot data migrated from the client’s in-house wealth management systems to the Broadridge tax platform used for IRS tax reporting.
The Tax Data Analyst is responsible for validating the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of trading and tax-lot data migrated from the client’s in-house wealth management systems to the Broadridge tax platform used for IRS tax reporting. This role supports tax reporting readiness by reconciling source and target data, identifying and resolving variances, documenting validation results, and partnering with Operations, Technology, Tax, and vendor teams to ensure reportable data is transferred correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Migration Validation
- Validate the accuracy and completeness of migrated trading, account, customer, and tax-lot data between internal systems and the outsourced vendor platform.
- Perform detailed source-to-target reconciliations for key tax reporting fields, including but not limited to:
- Security identifier
- Trade date
- Settlement date
- Acquisition date
- Cost basis
- Proceeds
- Wash sale adjustments
- Holding period
- Lot selection
- Corporate action impacts
- Account registration / taxpayer information
- Compare high-volume transactional datasets and identify breaks, exceptions, missing records, duplicates, and transformation errors.
- Validate mapping logic, conversion rules, field definitions, and calculation outputs used in the migration process.
- Support data readiness for IRS tax reporting, including Forms 1099-B and related cost basis reporting requirements.
- Review migrated data to ensure consistency with applicable IRS cost basis regulations and internal reporting standards.
- Assist in validating tax treatment of trades, transfers, corporate actions, and other securities events that impact reportable basis and gain/loss information.
- Partner with tax reporting, operations, and compliance teams to escalate and resolve data issues affecting downstream IRS reporting.
- Execute daily, weekly, and milestone-based reconciliations between internal books and records and the vendor system.
- Investigate reconciliation breaks by tracing data from source files, interfaces, transformation logic, and target system outputs.
- Maintain exception logs, root-cause analyses, and remediation tracking for identified issues.
- Work with IT and vendor partners to test fixes, validate corrections, and confirm issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least seven years of business analyst experience in tax operations
- Business/Functional/technical requirements skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- SDLC Process management skills and JIRA experience
- Ability to work run SQL quires and a decent understanding of database and ETL processes.
