Overview

We are looking for a Tax Manager who comes with strong Vertex experience. This will be an important system for your success.

This position offers the opportunity to expand your sales tax knowledge in an environment that is dynamic and exciting.  Our team consists primarily of long-term employees who are friendly and team oriented. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee outsourced sales tax compliance,
  • Resolve jurisdiction notices in a timely manner,
  • Resolve customer questions regarding taxability in a timely manner,
  • Ability to properly classify digital products and services and research taxability, 
  • Manage sales tax audits, 
  • Manage compliance staff,
  • Work with IT and outside consultants for migration to upgraded SAP environment and transition to Vertex O series,
  • Oversee and comply with monthly Internal Controls requirements,
  • Complete/review data reconciliation between G/L and Sales Tax Engine report and Sales Tax Payable accounts,
  • Negotiate VDAs,
  • Conduct/Review due diligence for acquisitions,
  • Review customer exemption certificates and prepare exemption certificates for suppliers,
  • Prepare exposure calculations,
  • Conduct Nexus reviews,
  • Assist with Canada GST/HST implications when necessary

Qualifications

Education:  bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or related field preferred; or relevant experience.

Experience:  5+ years of overall experience in taxation or related field

Preferred Experience:

  • Sales tax experience
  • State audit experience (3 years)
  • State audit tax
  • Knowledge of Vertex O series or SAP.
  • Knowledge of personal property tax and business licensing
  • Ability to manage a small team of tax analysts

Travel: < 5% annually for team meetings

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA: $121,350 - $170,050
