By joining Box, you will have the unique opportunity to continue driving our platform forward. Content powers how we work. It’s the billions of files and information flowing across teams, departments, and key business processes every single day: contracts, invoices, employee records, financials, product specs, marketing assets, and more. Our mission is to bring intelligence to the world of content management and empower our customers to completely transform workflows across their organizations. With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

The Solutions Engineering Team at Box includes solutions engineers, value engineering, platform solution engineering, enterprise architects, and demo engineering. As a Public Sector Solutions Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a team that sells to business and IT leaders across state, local, education, and specialized public sector accounts. You will own the technical strategy for the region, ensure consistent execution of customer-centric solutions, and partner closely with Sales to expand Box’s footprint in new and existing public sector accounts. You will also serve as a critical liaison between Sales and Product — translating customer feedback into actionable insights for Product Management, Operations, and Engineering.

This role focuses on U.S. Public Sector customers. We’re looking for a manager who understands procurement, compliance, and mission needs across SLED, CJIS, and other government programs, and who can coach a team to deliver high-impact, compliant solutions. If you enjoy white boarding, problem-solving, and mentoring technical teams, we want to talk to you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop the Public Sector solutions engineering team
  • Refine and scale core solutions engineering processes such as discovery, ideation, technical qualification, and proof-of-concept
  • Manage and drive the technical win to reach team targets
  • Participate in the execution of team and cross-functional initiatives set by senior leadership
  • Influence strategic account plans for larger clients
  • Provide advice and response strategy for RFPs; present recommendations and associated benefits
  • Promote products and Box solutions at regional conferences, forums, and seminars; participate in regional industry events and organizations to share your point of view
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term success and provide critical feedback to Product and Engineering teams based on public sector needs and field experience
  • Oversee technical demos and proof-of-concepts across Box offerings (Box AI, Mobile, Relay, Governance, Platform and API-based apps)
  • Travel up to 40% to engage with customers and work with team members

WHO YOU ARE

We are an AI-first company. You approach your work with a growth mindset and leverage AI to make faster, smarter decisions that amplify your team’s impact.

  • 4‑year degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering or solution consulting; prior experience managing a solutions engineering team is desired
  • Demonstrated success working with Public Sector customers, with deep knowledge of SLED, CJIS, and other public sector compliance and procurement processes; knowledge of common public sector use cases
  • Strong knowledge of CJIS requirements and implementation best practices; experience enabling CJIS‑compliant solutions in cloud environments
  • Solid understanding of FedRAMP authorization processes and other compliance frameworks affecting SaaS vendors
  • Experience with government procurement cycles, RFP/RFI processes, and contract vehicles (e.g., GSA schedules, state master contracts)
  • Familiarity with FAR and other relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience working with Box applications and designing integrated solutions (Salesforce, Google Workspace, Office365 integrations)
  • You’re AI‑curious and technically fluent — comfortable discussing LLMs, embeddings, automation, and prompt/context engineering concepts with both technical and business audiences
  • Strong presentation skills, able to build trust across technical and non-technical audiences; passionate about showing, not just telling — designing demos and narratives that make the power of Box AI tangible.
  • Experience managing strategic partner and subcontractor relationships commonly used in public sector engagements
  • Proven track record of driving KPIs such as deal velocity, technical win rates, and adoption through strong technical leadership and enablement
  • Stellar interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to build trust across diverse public sector stakeholders
