About Whisker Labs

We’re on a mission to save lives and property, leading the next wave in smart home technology and fire prevention with Ting. This intelligent sensor and concierge service monitors a home’s electrical network to detect electrical hazards that often lead to the most devastating and catastrophic fires. While on the job preventing fires inside a home, Ting also helps monitor the electrical grid, contributing to increased community fire safety and reduced environmental impact that comes with fire reduction. We’re steadfastly addressing the long-underserved realm of electrical fire prevention with leading-edge technology and embarking on the next stage of our growth. About the Role

As a startup, we wear several hats, obsess over the front line, and execute with an owner's mindset. Reporting to the Director of Product Operations, this Technical Project Manager will own the cross-functional projects that move our most important initiatives forward — driving them from kickoff through delivery, holding stakeholders accountable, and serving as the trusted point of contact for partners, executives, and internal leaders.

You'll be a senior, client-facing project leader who understands technology and digital initiatives well enough to drive them — without needing to write the code or own the roadmap. You'll run the meetings that matter, surface the risks early, and get things done across teams that don't naturally align on their own.

This role is both internal- and external-facing. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Programs/Operations, Marketing, Customer Care, Fire Safety, Finance, and external partners to align on scope, resolve open questions, and drive outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • External partner project leadership: Serve as the senior project owner on integrations and initiatives with our enterprise partners. Run the working sessions, manage scope and timeline commitments, drive technical alignment, and own the communication back to both organizations. Capture decisions and ensure follow-through, escalating as needed.
  • Cross-functional project delivery: Lead the projects that span Product, Engineering, Operations, and GTM — platform launches, system integrations, partner portals, digital initiatives, AI tooling rollouts. Set sequencing, manage dependencies, track milestones and blockers, and drive projects across the finish line with hints of program-level thinking when initiatives stretch across multiple workstreams.
  • Stakeholder management and executive communication: Own the status narrative on the projects you run. Brief executives clearly. Frame risks and decisions so senior leadership can move quickly. Manage stakeholders across every level — director, VP, and C-suite — both internally and at partner organizations.
  • Technical fluency: Lead conversations on APIs, integrations, authentication, and digital workflows without needing a translator. Pressure-test scope and approach. Push back when a proposal creates downstream issues. You don't need to code, but you need to be credible in a room with engineers and product managers.
  • Process, cadence, and follow-through: Establish the operating rhythm that keeps projects predictable — milestone gates, decision logs, risk registers, status communication. Adapt the cadence to the project; resist ceremony that doesn't earn its keep.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Programs/Operations leads, and Go-To-Market teams to align on commitments, clarify edge cases, and drive outcomes. Facilitate the working sessions that resolve hard problems.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years in technical project management, with senior-level experience driving complex cross-functional initiatives
  • Demonstrated track record of running enterprise client- or partner-facing projects end-to-end — you've owned the relationship with senior stakeholders at large organizations, not just attended the meetings
  • Strong technical fluency: APIs, integration patterns, authentication, cloud platforms, digital initiatives. You don't need to code, but you need to read an architecture diagram and hold your own with engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects across Product, Engineering, Operations, and GTM
  • Excellent executive communication — written and verbal. You can write the email to a VP, the status that goes to the executive team, and the briefing that lets a partner make a decision
  • Experience driving digital transformation, platform integration, or systems-rollout projects to completion
  • Excellent organization, judgment, and follow-through; proven ability to run multiple high-stakes projects concurrently without dropping commitments
  • A detail-obsessed, "get it done" mindset with a bias for action and outcomes

Nice to Have

  • Experience in insurance, utilities, IoT, or other regulated/partner-driven environments
  • Connected device, smart home, or hardware-software platform experience
  • Familiarity with AI tooling, automation platforms, or no-code initiatives
  • Experience with Jira, Asana, and modern PM tooling at scale
  • PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification

What You'll Bring

  • An ownership mentality over execution and follow-through — the judgment to know when to drive hard, when to absorb complexity on behalf of stakeholders, and when to escalate
  • Curiosity to dig into nuance and pressure-test assumptions
  • Executive presence and client-facing polish — you're as comfortable in a partner steering committee as you are in an engineering standup
  • A bias for getting things done across boundaries that don't naturally align
