The role of Technical Sales Engineer will interface daily with other departments. Maintains contact with consulting engineers and other potential customers. Insurability and a valid driver’s license are required.


Basic Duties
  • Primary responsibility includes the technical marketing of Altorfer and Caterpillar power systems to the Consulting Engineer community.
  • Developing clean energy, utility,  and distributed generation business throughout Altorfer's 4 state territory.
  • Create and communicate product guide specifications, system one line, general outline drawings and product bulletins as required.
  • Top-level electrical and mechanical schematic design of customized power solutions including: power distribution, protective relay & control, UPS, communication, fuel, cooling, exhaust and other various systems.           
  • Develop leads, new account generation and client relationships through direct mail, group presentations, lunch & learns and an annual open house for Continuing Education Credits.
  • Assists Sales Representatives in achieving forecasted sales budgets and quotas.
  • Keep current on the activities of competitors and advise supervisor of those activities, which can affect the success of Company objectives.
  • Keep current on all products policies and programs.
  • Maintain a high degree of sales professionalism through study and attendance at Caterpillar and other training seminars.
  • Establish contact database and maintain activities, opportunities, accounts, and contact information in Sales Link.
Qualifications
  • B.S.in Engineering or ten years of design and advanced industry experience required.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCad and a CRM system.
  • Military encouraged to apply
  • Must have a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).

Payrate: $90,000 - $120,000 annually

This position works primarily in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means, and in a vehicle traveling to and from locations. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 20lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate to low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.  The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
