Territory Manager (TM)

Job Description

A Territory Manager (TM) is the critical link between distribution and the residential dealer / contract within a designated sales territory.  He or she visits assigned accounts within a 70-mile radius, in person, on a weekly, bi-weekly and/or monthly basis depending on size and/or potential of account.

This position is responsible for understanding and developing assigned territory to maximize and grow revenue and profits by selling products and solutions to existing customers and acquiring new business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Devise effective territory sales and marketing strategies
  • Analyze data to find the most efficient sales methods
  • Meet with customers to address concerns and provide solutions
  • Discover sales opportunities through consumer research
  • Present products and services to prospective customers
  • Participate in industry or promotional events (e.g. trade shows) to cultivate customer relationships
  • Conduct training in sales techniques and company product attributes
  • Assess sales performance according to KPIs
  • Monitor competition within assigned region
  • Prepare and submit reports to the sales manager
  • Local travel required 100 % of the time, overnight travel 2 to 5%
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Proven experience as a Territory Manager
  • Proven track record of increasing sales and revenue; field sales experience is preferred
  • Ability to develop sales strategies and use performance KPIs
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational and leadership ability
  • Problem-solving aptitude

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Business, Marketing or a related field
  • 2 years industry experience
  • 2 years of previous sales experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5+ years industry experience
  • 5 years previous sales experience
