JOB SUMMARY

The Tradesworker for Park & Facility Services – East is responsible for leading and performing skilled maintenance, repair, and improvement work across one or more building trades to ensure the safe, efficient operation of District parks, facilities, and infrastructure. The Tradesworker is responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:

  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on District parks, buildings, facilities, and infrastructure across one or more building trades.
  • Lead and coordinate maintenance and improvement projects, including planning work, assigning tasks, and providing technical guidance to staff.
  • Diagnose maintenance issues, recommend repairs or replacements, and assist with project planning, budgeting, and cost estimates.
  • Organize projects from start to completion, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, customers, and stakeholders while providing excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Follow and promote safe work practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and reporting safety concerns.
  • Support the District's environmental stewardship initiatives by following sustainable practices and environmental policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have an Associate's degree or professional certification in a building trade or related field. Significant, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant building trades experience required.
  • Professional certification(s) in a skilled building trade preferred.
  • Active membership in a relevant professional association preferred.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license required. Additional licenses or certifications may be required based on the position.
     

SCHEDULING & PAY:

  • This is a full time, year round hourly (non-exempt) position working Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
  • Potential for schedule change based on department needs. Must be available for required overtime, special events and weather related duties.
  • Target hiring range is $34.98 - $38.92 / hour ($72,758.40-$80,944.25).
