Sky Castle Studios LLC, creator of Hero Forge®, is looking for a UI developer for remote work. We need about 3-4 months of full time work.
This is a contractor position. As a contract hire, you’ll be working on a defined scope of work rather than in a long-term, full-time role. You’ll be expected to manage your own schedule, meet agreed deadlines, and communicate progress clearly. You’ll submit invoices for your work, and payment will be processed according to agreed terms. This position does not include employee benefits, and you’ll be responsible for your own taxes and equipment.
This role is primarily about refining and polishing existing UI: taking mockups, rough implementations, and real product constraints, and turning them into something cohesive, balanced, and beautiful. Occasionally, you’ll also create UI from scratch, but the core of the role is elevating what’s already there.
What you'll do
  • Translate visual mockups into polished UI using CSS.
  • Refine and elevate existing UI in a React codebase.
  • Improve spacing, layout, typography, and color consistency.
  • Add thoughtful interaction details (hover, transitions, responsiveness).
  • Handle real-world edge cases while preserving visual quality.
  • Occasionally build simple UI from scratch when needed.
What we're looking for
  • Strong visual taste.
  • Excellent CSS skills.
  • Comfortable working in React (primarily visually modifying existing components, or working with engineers to make usability changes).
  • High attention to detail and pride in polish & pixel perfect CSS.
  • Ability to bridge design intent with real product constraints.
  • Portfolio showing UI you’ve implemented AND designed beautifully.
  • Experience with games or highly visual products.
  • Motion/animation sensibility.
  • Experience working closely with designers.
  • Good understanding of image formats, and ability to edit and implement where needed, e.g., icon integration, tuning.
