We’re looking for a detail-oriented, efficient and editorially sharp Updates Editor to help keep ConsumerAffairs content accurate, useful and competitive. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving existing content, spotting gaps and making smart updates that strengthen quality and search performance.
You’ll work across a wide range of consumer topics, reviewing and updating existing articles to ensure information is current, accurate and helpful. You’ll collaborate closely with writers, editors and SEO partners to identify what needs to change and make sure every update meets our editorial standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and update existing content for accuracy, freshness, clarity and usefulness
- Edit articles for grammar, structure, tone, readability and adherence to editorial standards
- Verify facts, statistics, pricing, company information and other time-sensitive details using credible sources
- Identify outdated or missing information and determine what needs to be added, removed or rewritten
- Follow SEO recommendations while maintaining a strong consumer-first editorial approach
- Collaborate with editorial and SEO teams to prioritize content updates
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in a content, editorial or writing role with a strong SEO focus
- Strong understanding of SEO content best practices and search intent
- Strong editing, writing and proofreading skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy
- Experience updating existing content to improve quality, freshness and organic search performance
- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify what information matters most to readers
- Comfortable conducting research and verifying information using credible sources
- Organized and able to manage a high volume of content and deadlines
- Comfortable collaborating with editors and SEO teams
- Highly organized and comfortable working across multiple assignments, deadlines and stakeholders at once
Bonus If You Have
- Experience editing consumer, service journalism or product-focused content
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs or similar SEO platforms
