This role will oversee and contribute to multiple development teams across the vertical, working closely with vertical and BU leadership. In addition to managing engineers, this role requires active involvement in software development, ensuring both strategic oversight and hands-on support. You will lead technical design, manage the delivery of software projects, and align engineering efforts with business goals. A key focus will be implementing structured sprint cadences, refining team workflows, and establishing standard operating procedures to build a more scalable and efficient engineering organization across the vertical. You will be responsible for guiding your team through the full software development lifecycle, driving high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions.  

In addition to the standard oversight, this role is the AI champion for the Vertical. We need a leader who views AI not just as a buzzword, but as a pragmatic tool to: 

Accelerate Coding: Implement AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code etc.) to help our small dev teams accelerate through our product backlogs. 

Product Innovation: Lead the integration of AI-based tooling into our products to benefit customers. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and contribute to software development efforts, writing and reviewing code to support critical projects and ensure high-quality deliverables. 

  • Lead and mentor a development team delivering high quality, scalable software platforms. 

  • Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools to increase team velocity and oversee the integration of machine learning models into the product suite 

  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance. 

  • Collaborate with Business Unit leadership team to understand priorities and business objectives, translating them into technical deliverables. 

  • Define and implement structured sprint cadences and other agile practices to improve velocity, predictability, and quality. 

  • Promote best practices in coding standards, testing, code reviews, and DevOps to ensure maintainability and scalability. 

  • Review technical designs and code, avoiding unnecessary complexity and ensuring the quality of deliverables. 

  • Maintain a flexible and adaptable development framework that can scale up to meet new market opportunities. 

  • Ensure stability and performance of software systems, proactively addressing any issues to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs). 

  • Optimize engineering talent across the vertical, balancing the maintenance of core systems with the delivery of high-priority modernization projects. 

  • Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams, identifying emerging leaders and ensuring a culture of high engagement and morale. 

  • Lead by example as a primary contributor 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for the engineering team. 

  • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews. 

  • Establish and maintain best practices, quality controls, and SLAs. 

  • Oversee resource allocation and workload balancing 

  • Resolve conflicts and remove roadblocks 

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Agile Leadership & Delivery: Ability to champion Agile principles, guide engineering teams through the full development lifecycle, and ensure predictable, high-quality software delivery.SQL Server, C#, Angular, .NET, Experience and Leadership

  • Azure Cloud Architecture & Deployment 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences 

  • Experience with SDLC tooling (e.g. Jira) 

  • Experience with CI/CD methodology and delivery  

  • Prior experience with inventory software solutions is a plus 

  • Minimum 8+ years of professional experience 

  • At least 6 years of experience in developing Web, SaaS, or Mobile products 

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience directly leading or managing an engineering team 

  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and/or complex systems 

  • Deep understanding of .NET/C# programming using Microsoft Visual Studio 

  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of SQL using SQL Management Studio 

  • Proven ability to decompose complex problems into discrete software deliverables 

  • Coachable with a high integrity ownership mind-set 

  • Self-starter with consistent track record of delivering high quality software in a pragmatic fashion 

Salary Range: $115,140- $150,000 USD
