About the Role:

The Vice President of Accounting will serve as the Head of the Accounting department leading an accounting team of 9-10 professionals. The current structure includes accounting managers, accountants, and treasury support, with opportunities to further develop the department based on the new leader’s assessment. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements. This role provides strong technical accounting expertise, ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, leads budgeting and financial close processes, manages accounting staff, and provides executive leadership with reliable financial information to support strategic and operational decisions. This executive leader will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s continued growth, acquisitions, physician partnerships, and operational performance.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Lead Organization through a Cah to Accrual conversion in the first 6 -12 months
  • Serve as the organization’s primary technical accounting resource and provide guidance to the CFO and executive leadership team.
  • Quickly assess the accounting department, processes, controls, and talent while developing a clear plan for improvement.
  • Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, reporting practices, and audit readiness.
  • Evaluate the existing organizational structure and make appropriate staffing and responsibility changes.
  • Recruit and develop additional accounting talent, potentially including an Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant.
  • Oversee accounting across a complex legal entity structure that includes a holding company, tax blocker, management services organization, and multiple physician-owned professional entities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of intercompany allocations, shared-services arrangements, administrative service agreements, and revenue cycle charge outs.
  • Provide oversight for entities whose books are maintained by the organization but may not be consolidated into its financial statements.
  • Partner closely with treasury, revenue cycle, operations, legal, and executive leadership.
  • Support external audits and work with outside advisors to address accounting or process deficiencies.
  • Create scalable accounting infrastructure capable of supporting additional physician practices and future organizational growth.
  • Develop, coach, and retain a strong accounting team while creating accountability and clarity across the department.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assess organizational needs and implement systems, processes, and talent strategies to support growth.
Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA desired but not required
  • Significant technical accounting experience, ideally within a healthcare services, physician practice management, or multisite healthcare organization.
  • Experience with corporate practice of medicine structures, management services organizations, or physician-owned professional entities strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex legal entity structures, intercompany transactions, shared-service allocations, and consolidations.
  • Strong command of generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls, financial reporting, and external audit processes.
  • Previous leadership experience as a Corporate Controller, Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, or senior accounting executive.
  • Experience assessing and improving an accounting function during a period of transition, rapid growth, or operational complexity.
  • Ability to make sound personnel and organizational decisions while building a high-performing team.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Healthcare services or private equity-backed company experience is highly desirable.

Work Environment & Physical Expectations:

  • This position is based in Dallas and requires an in-office presence.
  • Monday–Friday, daytime schedule; occasional after-hours meetings may be required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, move throughout the office as needed, and perform light lifting; manual dexterity required for frequent computer and phone use.
