The Vice President, Technical Operations oversees all technical operations at Kaleo, managing supply chain, manufacturing science, and technology functions. Key responsibilities include leading strategic initiatives, enhancing supply chain resiliency, and optimizing manufacturing processes while collaborating across all departments and with external partners.
The Vice- President, Technical Operations will report to the Chief Manufacturing and Supply Chain Officer and will be responsible for all technical operations at Kaléo including the Supply Chain Operations, Manufacturing Science and Technology, and Commercial Manufacturing functions. There will also be strategic responsibilities in leading growth of the manufacturing network and development pipeline, improving overall supply chain resiliency, managing technology transfer, validation and product launch. The Vice-President will sit on the Kaléo Executive Committee and will participate in Board of Director preparation and meetings as required. Key responsibilities:
- Lead Supply Chain Operations, MS&T, Manufacturing departments.
- Ensure activities of the three departments are properly prioritized, harmonized, and executed to support key company strategic objectives
- Maintain a strong relationship with the Quality function to ensure effective collaboration and decision making for technical operations activities
- Accountable for the Kaléo Supply Chain Strategy that includes manufacturing capacity, supply chain resiliency, and product supply strategies to meet Development and Commercial requirements.
- Optimize the manufacturing and supply chain footprint to optimally meet current demand requirements with scalability for the future.
- Delegate effectively to all direct reports with clearly defined responsibilities and desired outcomes, while providing the necessary resources and support. The Vice-President must establish clear expectations and maintain a feedback loop for monitoring progress and providing guidance, all while empowering the team and avoiding micromanagement
- Manage goal setting, performance evaluations and manpower planning
- Create and manage all budgets in partnership with direct reports. Approve SOW’s, POs, and Invoices as needed.
- Will be a member of Executive Committee for Kaléo
- Participate in quarterly EC meeting, live or virtual. The EC membership is made up of all Kaléo employees at the Vice-President level or above
- Build and maintain productive relationships with all departments across Kaléo
- Actively monitor and improve cross departmental communication, collaboration and conflict resolution at the VP level to drive execution and achievement of key strategic objectives
- Participate in Kaléo Board of Director meeting preparation and participate in these meetings as required
- Provide senior leadership role across the external Kaléo supply chain network
- Participate in CMO Joint Steering Committee meetings for key strategic partners
- Participate in SOW, Supply and Service Agreement negotiations as required
- Work with Supply Chain Operations to identify network gaps and roadblocks, working with direct reports and supplier senior leadership as an escalation point to resolve these issues without undermining the supplier manager’s authority. Establish and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders, often working behind the scenes to resolve conflict in a productive way
- Strategic Initiatives and Employee Development
- Collaborate with Kaléo AI Advisory team to develop an AI integration roadmap for Operations, ensure AI governance and ethics frameworks help drive AI adoptions in Operations, and serve as a sponsor of AI capability building across the organization
- Drive a Continuous Improvement culture by applying proven operational excellence methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. This effort includes fostering robust strategic vendor partnerships and building resilient network infrastructure
- Create strategic talent and resource plans to build leadership depth. Design and launch operations-wide development programs, including rotational assignments and career pathing. Cultivate a connected culture by hosting skip-level engagement sessions to monitor operational dynamics and employee feedback.

- Broad knowledge of all technical processes within Supply Chain, MS&T and Combination Product Manufacturing. The Vice-President must be able to understand how activities fit together to enable constructive collaborative discussions and problem solving.
- The Vice-President must have strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical details and issues to all functional roles and levels across the internal and external enterprise. This is critical to gain understanding and support of departmental issues and priorities, and to gain concurrence in problem solving recommendations.
- Experience and Qualifications
- Industry Experience: 15 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing complex operations.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field. A master’s in business administration or a relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
