We work with a broad range of clients around the globe to bring innovative products to market that solve real-world problems and make the world a better place, specializing in the development of drug delivery devices that improve patient outcomes and clinical experiences.

You will join our User Experience Design team, which is part of a tight-knit group of human factors engineers, user experience designers, and engineers located in Chicago, IL. Job Description

We are looking for… A process-driven and detail-oriented designer who possesses a unique blend of visual design excellence, strict documentation discipline, and an understanding of human-centered design. You will act as a critical cross-functional partner, collaborating heavily with Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Human Factors, Marketing, and Communications teams to create materials that communicate information both effectively and beautifully while meeting global compliance standards and minimizing user error.

In this role, you will…

  • Design and produce engaging and compliant storyboards, Instructions for Use (IFUs), and Quick Reference Guides (QRGs) by defining format, establishing layout, writing copy, illustrating visuals, and specifying folding patterns.
  • Design and build graphics and die lines for labels and packaging.
  • Enhance our brand by developing and applying an inspiring and consistent design language to internal and external communications such as social media, marketing materials, and documentation templates.

You will be expected to…

  • Act as individual contributor on internal and client projects.
  • Develop dense, multi-lingual layouts while maintaining readability, color-contrast, and minimum font sizes.
  • Produce and manage libraries of vector technical illustrations, icons, and diagrams.
  • Collaborate with Human Factors to develop and produce materials for usability testing, then implement design changes derived from study findings; Quality and Regulatory to ensure materials are compliant with global regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EU MDR, ISO standards) and our Quality Management System (QMS); and Marketing and Communications teams to ensure materials align with market strategy and brand guidelines– all without sacrificing clarity or layout integrity.
  • Take ownership of design change and version control traceability by building and maintaining detailed change logs. As applicable, execute tasks following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) guidelines.
  • Optimize and prepare materials for print. Manage vendors to request quotes, evaluate structural print proofs (color consistency, folding line accuracy), and resolve technical production constraints.
  • Optimize and prepare materials for handoff to client teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your experience should include…

  • Degree (BA, BFA) and/ or certification in graphic design, visual communications, or similar.
  • 1-2 years of professional graphic design or visual communications experience, preferably within a highly regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Biotech, or Aerospace/Automotive).
  • A portfolio showcasing multi-page layouts, technical vector illustrations, hierarchy-focused typography, and informational layout design.

Your skills should include…

  • Strong understanding and application of user-centered design principles, processes, and methodologies.
  • Strong sketching and illustration on paper and digitally.
  • Strength in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom).
  • Strength in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills.
  • Bonus: Interest and/ or experience in animation and videography (Adobe AfterEffects or similar).
  • Bonus: Interest and/ or experience in digital rendering (Keyshot, Blender).
  • Bonus: Interest and/ or experience in technical copywriting.

You’re a good fit for us if you are…

  • Curious and eager to learn with the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly.
  • Passionate about effective visual design with a strong aesthetic and graphic design sensibility rooted in fundamental design principles such as typography, illustration, imagery, content, and composition.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous with an eye for alignment, typos, and version changes; proud of consistency and well-organized design files.
  • An effective communicator with good visual and verbal presentation skills, as well as an excellent command of written English with the ability to write and edit plain-language, step-by-step instructional copy.
  • Experienced in both digital and print production processes.
  • Efficient and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experienced in presenting and defending design decisions to diverse stakeholders.
