The office of digital innovation firm Solstice is a good example of what happens when a company asks employees what they want from a workplace.

Features like a robot, augmented reality game and makers' space inspire employees to innovate on the edge. Still, with a cafe-like workspace at the heart of the office, it's comfortable.

"Great ideas don't thrive on formality," said Palak Patel, digital strategist. "They happen when people are so at ease that they can focus on what matters most — and that's building the right solutions for our clients."
