After two months of beta this summer, online payment company Braintree has officially launched in Canada and Europe as of Wednesday. With that move, the company’s processing solutions are now available in 27 companies. This news closely follows Braintree’s acquisition of mobile payments company Venmo two weeks ago.

Company CEO Bill Ready answered a few questions for us regarding Braintree’s international expansion. Read on to see what he had to say.

How will service for international customers compare to that for American clients?'

We're providing the same great tools to international developers that have helped great tech companies grow and scale here in the US.

How will this move change the way Braintree does business?

Our goal is to simplify payments for merchants across the globe as we've done here in the U.S. We're committed to providing the same tools to make integrating payments easy for developers. In addition, having knowledgable, qualified people to answer questions and proactively solve issues for our clients is a big part of what makes us different than every other payment provider in the market and we will provide this same level of service to merchants no matter where they are located.

Ease of sign-up is a place where we'll continue to innovate as international banking structures and regulations often make sign-up more difficult.  We think we have an offering that is much better than sign-up process that developers have to endure internationally today, but we'd like to make that experience as easy as it is here in the US.

Do you look to expand even further across the globe?

Our plan is to expand to as many countries as possible, and we’ll continue to roll out new countries as our products become available there. The regulatory environments in many countries make it difficult for companies to provide payments processing, but we're working hard to make our products available to as many companies and entrepreneurs around the world as possible.

What will this expanded reach allow Braintree to achieve that it couldn't previously?

We believe the international opportunity will be even bigger than what we've been doing here in the US. Every month, we are contacted by many international companies that are desperately looking for better payment tools. That's because there are many international companies that need better payments software and because developers here in the US want to take their products international very quickly, just as Uber, Airbnb and LivingSocial have done.
