Registers patients, verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, obtains pre-authorizations, performs Medicare compliance reviews, issues beneficiary notices, estimates patient financial responsibility, collects payments, and establishes payment plans. The role also gathers accurate demographic and insurance information, coordinates with utilization management, prevents duplicate medical records, and provides logistical information to patients.

Registers emergency department patients, verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, obtains pre-authorizations, performs Medicare compliance reviews, and issues beneficiary notices. Calculates patient financial responsibility, collects payments, establishes payment plans, and reconciles cash. Maintains accurate demographic and medical record information, coordinates with clinical and utilization management teams, documents communications, supports switchboard coverage, and provides customer service while following CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA requirements.

Provide inpatient and emergency department social work services including grief counseling, crisis intervention, discharge planning, goals-of-care support, care coordination with post-acute providers, and documentation to ensure continuity of care and timely discharges.
