An Insider's view of Earlybird
How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?
Very balanced. Each week is broken up with a “Work From Home Wednesday” and remote time beyond that is super relaxed as well. I love having the freedom to choose my own office hours, shaping a schedule that helps me be more productive. Results are treated as more important than time spent at a desk, which I know the parents working here appreciate.
What kinds of technical challenges do you and your team face?
Our industry is ever-changing, with new frameworks, new languages, and new tools emerging all the time. It’s up to us to stay on top of these changes and suggest what’s best for the client, their project, and our team. There are risks to these decisions, since old framework versions or outdated languages can become more difficult to support.
How does the company support your career growth?
Over the last six years, the company has grown and evolved in step with the interests and passions of the team. People who have shown interest in new fields are given the opportunity to pitch ideas to prospective clients and lead development on new projects. This gives all of us the chance to grow as developers and consultants.
Our clients rely on us to help them innovate, so we do a lot to promote a growth mindset and drive innovation internally. I love how our team has embraced the monthly lunch-and-learn presentations we host, but we’ve also sponsored ongoing coursework, paid for attendance to conferences, and even supported team members launching startups on the side.
There’s a lot of acknowledgement for individual successes, but I personally love that we dedicate a few minutes at the end of our weekly all-company meeting to allow for public appreciations, recognizing the acts of kindness people perform on a daily basis. It’s a small but meaningful manifestation of how our team rewards supporting one another.
