Provide broad legal counsel to the university with emphasis on employment and higher-education law. Advise on faculty and student matters, conduct legal research, represent the university before courts and agencies, draft and review policies and contracts, support investigations and compliance (FERPA, Title IX, Title VII, ADA, FMLA), provide training, and collaborate with HR and leadership.

Administers employee health, retirement, savings, leave, accommodation, and workers’ compensation benefits. Supports enrollment and orientations, answers confidential employee inquiries, audits payroll deductions and eligibility data, processes contributions and vendor invoices, coordinates with benefits vendors, and assists with compliance, HRIS troubleshooting, and process-improvement projects.

Leads stewardship and development of a university arboretum, overseeing tree care, landscape management, safety, biodiversity, maintenance, projects, budgets, contractors, records, and accreditation efforts. Develops educational programs, events, interpretive materials, and community partnerships while supporting academic initiatives. Supervises assigned employees, coordinates vendors, communicates with stakeholders, and ensures sustainable, compliant, and welcoming campus landscapes.
