Position Requirement:

Properly set up, start, monitor, and complete engineering and production audit tests.

Check raw data for accuracy as data is collected.

Inform appropriate laboratory personnel of any problems with the test equipment or data collection. Properly document the completion of the test(s).

Assist in training in proper test set-up and completion.

Communicate and resolve any difficulties with performing the test as requested.

Report Data

Develop software solutions for new standard tests including proper documentation, testing, training, and optimization.

Develop analysis templates for new test procedures.

Check the output of template(s) for accuracy and completeness.

Properly document modifications to the templates.

Train and inform all affected laboratory personnel of the changes.

Store the reduced data in the appropriate network folder(s).

Verify the accuracy of the raw data.

Handle all data adjustments needed due to improper software inputs, machine anomalies, or another mishap regardless of complexity or availability of software fixes or tools.

Maintenance and Machine Repair

Execute preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner.

Properly document the machinery logs with the preventive maintenance activity.

Troubleshoot improper machine behavior to determine the root cause of the problem.

Lead the repair of test equipment as required.

Properly document the machinery logs with the repair activities performed.

Coordinate non-standard housekeeping initiatives.

Suggest and implement methods to improve housekeeping status.

Adhere to housekeeping schedules.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for new or upgraded equipment, based on sound engineering knowledge.

Recommend changes to preventive maintenance schedules based on maintenance and repair history.

Develop calibration methods and documented procedures based upon sound technical principles, showing thorough knowledge of all concepts involved.

Perform calibrations per documented procedures.

Develop Test Methods

Make modifications to existing test control programs as necessary.

Order replacements of worn or broken test fixtures and components. Suggest and implement alternate test methods that would allow greater efficiency in test performance or accuracy of data.

Create test control programs from product operating parameters with or without the use of standard lab tools, software converters, interpreters, etc., understanding the limitations of the test equipment, and making equipment modifications when appropriate.

Suggest, develop, and implement efficiency and productivity improvements to laboratory test processes while preserving test integrity, accuracy, and repeatability.

Properly document and update laboratory and quality system documents as necessary.

Assist in the development of test fixtures, including print checking and concept design.

Make drawing revisions based on sound engineering principles to improve fixture reliability.

Develop control software and software enhancements including testing, coding, training, and implementation.

Administrative

Properly document incoming test requests and update test schedules as necessary

Generate internal documentation for replenishing laboratory supplies through the current MRO system.

Generate documentation for external purchasing of laboratory inventory items, services, and non-stocked repair and maintenance items.

Follow-up as necessary to ensure timely delivery of ordered items.

Solicit vendor quotes and perform competitive analysis to ensure the best benefit-to-cost ratio.

Generate work requests for electricians, tool makers, machinists, and millwrights as necessary to keep all laboratory equipment and facilities fully operational.

Coordinate shipping activities from the laboratory to vendors, customers, and other BorgWarner sites.

 Equipment and Existing Equipment Modifications

Suggest, develop, and implement improvement ideas for existing equipment.

Lead the upgrade or modification of equipment as required.

Coordinate upgrade and improvement projects, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.

Prepare concept sketches and/or engineering drawings for new equipment or upgrade projects.

Perform engineering calculations to verify proof of concept.

Other duties as required.

Degree Requirements: Associates in a technical discipline preferred.       

Proficiency using Microsoft Excel Experience developing programs using Visual Basic, Visual Basic for Applications, or similar programming language with a working knowledge of arrays and loops. Proven ability to use engineering calculations in the design of mechanical and electrical systems   Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, controls, and high-speed data acquisition systems. Proficient use of CAD in the design of mechanical components and sub-assemblies with an understanding of drafting standards and conventions. Experience in the set-up and use of sensors and data acquisition systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic and mechanical systems Capable of automation/controls programming incorporating high-speed data acquisition.

Pay Range: $28.98-40.22

Internal Candidates: Eligibility to Bid

•     Employees with less than one year of service are only eligible to bid on higher paying labor grade positions.

•     Employees with more than one year of service will receive first consideration. 

•     Employees in a Disciplinary Step 1 are eligible to bid on any job.

•     Employees in Step 2 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.

•     Employees in Step 3 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.

•     If an employee accepted a new position, they cannot bid on the same or lower paying labor grade for 1 year.

•     If you were previously forced out of this job classification and are interested in returning to the position, you must complete a job bidding form.

•     This Position requires that you be able to Read and Write English;
