SUMMARY

The Account Executive (AE) provides consultative account management and brokerage services to large-group employee benefits clients with 1,000-5,000+ lives. The AE works alongside Producers and are principally responsible for overseeing management of assigned accounts as the technical expert and broker-consultant across complex, multi-carrier benefit programs including fully insured, self-funded, and level-funded arrangements. The AE partners with appropriate decision makers, provides proactive consultation, insurance program design, carrier interface/marketing, coordination of risk control resources, relevant collaboration with colleagues throughout HUB, and negotiation of coverage terms and conditions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a consultant to Major Market clients, with principal responsibility for retention. Acts as the technical expert on plan design, funding strategy, carrier marketplace, and compliance for accounts with 1,000–5,000+ lives. In some instances, also holds primary responsibility for client relationship management.

  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with C-level and senior HR decision-makers, demonstrating detailed knowledge of each client’s business, industry, and benefit exposures.

  • Directly oversees delivery of all HUB services throughout the policy cycle, including stewardship reports, claims reviews, carrier meetings, coverage outlines, and marketing of renewal and emergent coverage requests.

  • Leads carrier marketing, underwriting negotiations, and RFP processes for large-group accounts, including stop-loss placement and evaluation of self-funded and level-funded alternatives.

  • Conducts annual reviews with clients, making coverage and cost-containment recommendations focused on reducing total cost of risk across complex benefit programs.

  • Maintains strong relationships with carrier marketing, underwriting, and risk control staff, with detailed familiarity of each carrier’s products and appetite for major market business.

  • Ensures Producers are fully informed and prepared for all client meetings and interfaces to competently manage the client relationship.

  • Works cooperatively with CSS colleagues to deliver client services, using the interface as an opportunity to teach, train, and mentor team members. Provides performance feedback to the Client Services Manager.

  • Identifies opportunities for cross-sell and up-sell of HUB products and services—such as stop-loss, executive benefits, voluntary/worksite, pharmacy consulting, and population health solutions. Documents competitive intelligence on other providers.

  • Manages HUB Top 200 process for assigned accounts.

  • Maintains current receivable status for assigned clients; undertakes proactive collection efforts for receivables 30+ days past due.

  • Complies with HUB systems, procedures, and state/federal insurance regulations. Leverages HUB resources and tools available via HUB Today.

  • Is actively involved with professional and/or civic associations on behalf of HUB.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Active Life & Health License

  • 5-7+ years of employee benefits account management or consulting experience, some of which servicing Major Markets (1,000+ lives)

  • Demonstrated expertise with self-funded and level-funded plan arrangements, stop-loss marketing, and large-group underwriting concepts

  • Experience influencing C-level executives and presenting to senior HR leadership at large employers

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to design and deliver group presentations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands across multiple large-group accounts

  • High energy, detail-oriented self-starter with strong leadership and mentoring skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and relevant professional experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for success in the role.

  • Industry designations such as CEBS, GBA, RHU, or REBC

  • Experience with multi-state employer groups or multi-location accounts

  • Familiarity with data analytics platforms, pharmacy benefit consulting, or population health strategies

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 to $155,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HAS and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, personal, floating holidays and company holidays. In addition, eligible annual bonuses, equity and commissions may be available for some positions.
