Purpose of The Role

The Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day organization and coordination of assigned Team 201 client accounts. This person helps create the structure that keeps work moving - ensuring priorities are clear, timelines are managed, project information is current, and internal teams know what needs to happen and when.

This is a highly organized, execution-oriented role that combines account management with strong project management skills. You will work closely with senior account leadership and Team 201’s functional experts to translate client and strategic priorities into well-managed workflows.

You don’t need to be a marketing strategist or the deepest subject matter expert in any particular marketing discipline. You do need enough marketing knowledge to understand the work being delivered, ask good questions, identify missing information, and understand how individual projects connect to the client’s broader business objectives.

While there will be opportunities to interact directly with clients - including leading recurring status meetings - the primary focus of this role is operational excellence and internal coordination.

Team 201 is an AI-forward agency. You will be expected to actively use AI to improve how you work, increase efficiency, strengthen processes, and help us continually improve how we manage and deliver client work.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong working understanding of assigned client accounts, including their businesses, stakeholders, active workstreams, priorities, and the work Team 201 is delivering.
  • Own and maintain client status documentation, ensuring deliverables, owners, decisions, risks, dependencies, and next steps are clearly documented and current.
  • Maintain account bandwidth and resource trackers, helping account leadership understand team capacity, upcoming needs, and potential conflicts.
  • Own day-to-day project timelines and track milestones, dependencies, approvals, and handoffs to keep work moving on schedule.
  • Create, manage, and maintain project tickets in tools such as Jira and Asana, ensuring tasks have clear requirements, owners, timing, and status.
  • Maintain organized account documentation and file structures so briefs, plans, creative, reporting, meeting notes, decisions, and other key materials are easy to find and use.
  • Coordinate internal teams across creative, content, paid media, marketing operations, and other disciplines to ensure everyone understands priorities, responsibilities, timing, and dependencies.
  • Prepare agendas and materials for recurring client status meetings and document clear decisions, follow-ups, and action items.
  • Lead recurring client status meetings as appropriate, with support from senior account leadership when needed.
  • Translate direction from account leadership and subject matter experts into clear briefs, tickets, timelines, and next steps for internal teams.
  • Track client feedback and approvals and ensure they are reflected accurately in project documentation and internal workflows.
  • Proactively identify missing information, approaching deadlines, resource constraints, dependencies, and other potential roadblocks and drive them toward resolution.
  • Understand project scope and flag potential scope, timing, or resourcing concerns to account leadership early.
  • Ensure deliverables move through the appropriate internal review and quality-control processes before reaching clients.
  • Follow up with internal owners to ensure commitments are completed and projects continue moving forward.
  • Identify opportunities to improve account-management systems, templates, documentation, and workflows.
  • Use AI to streamline administrative work, synthesize meeting notes and information, improve documentation, support briefing, organize account knowledge, and create more efficient account-management processes.
About You
  • You create structure. You’re naturally organized and enjoy turning a lot of moving pieces into a clear, manageable system.
  • You’re a strong project manager. Timelines, status documents, tickets, dependencies, follow-ups, and project plans are tools you know how to use to keep work moving.
  • You’re extremely reliable. When you own something, people don’t have to wonder whether it will get done.
  • You anticipate what’s next. You notice approaching deadlines, missing inputs, unanswered questions, and potential bottlenecks before they become problems.
  • You’re an excellent internal communicator. You can turn conversations and direction into clear owners, actions, requirements, and deadlines.
  • You understand marketing. You know enough about digital and integrated marketing to understand the work you’re coordinating and communicate effectively with specialists.
  • You have strong attention to detail. You care about the accuracy of a status document, the completeness of a ticket, the organization of a folder, and whether the right person knows what they’re responsible for.
  • You’re proactive. If something isn’t clear, you find out. If something is stuck, you follow up. If something looks like it might become a problem, you raise it.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity. When a process doesn’t exist or isn’t working, you’re willing to help create a better one.
  • You’re an active AI adopter. You’ve experimented with or incorporated AI into your work and are excited to find practical ways to use it every day.
Requirements & Key Areas of Expertise
  • 4–6+ years of experience in account management, project management, marketing operations, agency operations, or a related role.
  • Agency experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multiple simultaneous projects, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience building and maintaining status documents, project plans, timelines, resource or bandwidth trackers, and other operational tools.
  • Experience with project management and ticketing platforms such as Jira, Asana, Wrike, Trello, Monday.com, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of digital and integrated marketing and familiarity with disciplines such as paid media, content, social, email, marketing automation, creative, and web.
  • B2B technology experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage a high volume of work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take ownership.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools professionally and curiosity about new applications for AI in account management and agency operations.
How You Can Grow

We view strong account and project management as a foundation that can lead in several directions.

The immediate focus of this role is becoming exceptional at operating accounts: creating structure, coordinating teams, managing projects, anticipating needs, and ensuring work gets delivered smoothly.

As you master those responsibilities, we’ll work with you to develop toward the areas that best match your strengths and interests. That could include:

  • Account leadership: Take on more complex accounts, greater client responsibility, and eventually progress toward an Account Supervisor role.
  • Project and program leadership: Lead larger and more complex projects, workstreams, and multidisciplinary programs.
  • Integrated marketing: Build broader T-shaped knowledge across the disciplines that make up integrated marketing.
  • Strategy: Over time, develop the skills necessary to contribute to planning, recommendations, and strategic thinking.
  • Execution or specialization: Develop deeper expertise and become more hands-on in a marketing discipline that interests you.

These are growth opportunities, not expectations of the Account Manager role. We don’t expect you to arrive as a strategist or expert across every marketing discipline.

Salary & Benefits
  • $60,000–$85,000 annually, dependent on experience
  • Competitive PTO
  • Employee health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Company 401(k) program
