The Finance department strives to maintain a strong financial foundation for Wolverine by managing the production of accurate, thorough, and timely financial information for all of Wolverine’s entities. More specifically, we execute the day-to-day financial operations including cash management, daily P&L, general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, and regulatory capital calculations. We are also responsible for regulatory compliance from a finance perspective and for filing monthly, quarterly and annual reports with various regulatory authorities.
We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive contributor who possesses a strong understanding of accounting and finance principles. This person will work collaboratively with all members of the Finance team, as well as with personnel in various departments to accomplish projects and initiatives. This position will report directly to the Controller and is on site five days per week.
What You'll Do:
- Perform treasury duties as assigned, including, but not limited to preparing and recording wire transfers, initiation of bank transfers, and application of receipts
- Perform monthly close functions accurately, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of trade and GL accounts, and the preparation of financial statements for various Wolverine entities
- Prepare and manage audit deliverables and collaborate with external auditors
- Ensure timely and comprehensive completion of special projects and process improvements
- Prepare and analyze daily trading results, trading and operational expenses, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
- Assist with monitoring of capital requirements on a daily and monthly basis
- Support the team with regulatory filings for relevant trading entities and perform research on new regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with traders, compliance, and the operations department on projects to support and add value to the business
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Work experience of 0-3 years
- Must be willing to study for and pass the SIE and Series 99 exams within 6 months of hire
- Experience with general ledger software; Oracle E-Business Suite is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple work streams
- Self-motivated and able work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, specifically)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
