We’re looking for a highly driven Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting team and help build a world-class finance function. You will play a critical role in owning the monthly close process, strengthening our accounting operations, and ensuring we have the financial foundation to scale. This role is ideal for someone with progressive accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Month-End Close & Technical Accounting.
  • Own and manage the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analyses.
  • Maintain and enhance our close calendar, identifying opportunities to shorten close timelines.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Claims, RevOps, FP&A, HR, etc.) to ensure clean data flow into accounting systems.
Finance & Accounting Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP.
  • Drive process improvements and automation within our financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Bill.com, Mesh).
  • Implement internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies as we prepare for future audits and scale.
  • Support audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
Reporting & Strategic Support
  • Support FP&A with monthly budget-to-actuals, variance analyses, and financial insights.
  • Provide operational visibility by improving reporting processes, dashboards, and controls.
  • Contribute to special projects such as system implementations, workflow redesigns, and new revenue streams.
What You Bring
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting required.
  • CPA license required.
  • Experience in a high-growth startup or tech environment strongly preferred.
  • Insurance industry experience- a plus
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and strong technical accounting acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes and systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and operate with a builder mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Ability to work from our downtown Chicago or NYC office three days per week (Tuesday through Thursday)
